Have there been any horror stories in relation to the swing-arm failing whilst riding? has the fault led to any accidents or is it a precautionary measure. Is the swing arm likely to come apart if an owner didn't spot it in time?? Just curious as mine was ok last time I looked and am waiting for my dealer to get the new parts....if a crack appears do I need to stop using the bike immediately??

Have only really heard of one, rumor of another that cracked on street going machines and not from crashing. It is a precautionary recall. If I had noticed a crack during normal clean up after a ride, I would NOT ride it. Good news is my dealer got the new swingarm about 2 weeks after they ordered it. Got it on last week.

Hi Guys, I'm new here and based in Dublin, Ireland. I recently bought a 2004 RSV Factory and sent a mail to Aprilia asking if there were any recalls to be done on this bike. They replied telling me that there was a recall and it had been done, however that's all they said, they did not detail what the recall was. Anyway, it appears I still have the old Swing-arm on my bike, the one with two holes and also its date-stamped 14/01/04. My question is this, was every swing-arm recalled or was it just a certain batch?

There is a UK website detailing vehicle recalls and if I can trust it, it seems to say that there was no swing-arm recall on my bike, seems to be on 2005/2006 models. here is the link to the site:

This site is great...excellent information!!! I went to my local dealer about this and they said they had a couple in stock from guys they ordered them for, for the recall, that did not come pick em up. They said I could have one of those since they were never put on as scheduled. They then ran my VIN and found that it had not been done and promptly made an appointment. It was fast, easy, and painless. I got a chance to meet the service manager and chat with him for a few. Nice bike, nice service, what more can ya ask for!!!

I recently had my swingarm replaced. The new one is not as nice looking as the original. The original was polished, and the replacement is a bit dull looking.Am I being to picky?

    It's a recall.

No matter when you will be covered.

Call the dealership with your VIN number handy and they can probably start the process.

It's a recall and it's very important you will be covered asap.

Call your dealer/official mechanic with your VIN number handy, warranty and they've to start the process asa they can: it's very important to prevent any cracks problems on swingarms!

Hi guys.. I just bought my RSV Factory and reading the threat, I went down to the garage to see if mine is the old one.. and what I saw is a big crack.. the same as in the picture above.. So what to do now.. I bought it used and the bike is originally from Italy, and I am from Bulgaria. I don't know if I have an official dealer or if they can change it.. I don't think they would actually, and if they say they will, it will happen in probably 2 years...

I am very lucky guy.. as I noticed it now, I don't wanna think what could happen.. I cannot ride the bike like that.. but Can I go to weld the whole crack from both sides??? Or I have to buy another one.. Please Help..
