    Silly Season

Well, the rumour mill is running at full tilt, as seems to be usual at this time of year. 2 particular rumours have come to my attention, both via the ultra reliabe MCN.

Max Biaggi is a possible selection to ride the new 800cc Ilmor MotoGP bike. They have apparently been given wild card entries for the final 2 GPs of 2006. Let's see who really shows up to ride the bike. Test rider Max Neukirchner reckons the bike is as good as the current Honda RCV but the team want an experienced MotoGP star to take testing to a new level. They are also interested in aquiring the services of Alex Barros, but he's currently unable to test the bike as he's contracted to Honda in WSB.

Max is also linked to the D'Antin Pramac Ducati team for 2007 where he could team up with WSB star James Toseland. The team will have full factory bikes, with full factory back up and Bridgestone tyres. Toseland is also being watched by Honda with regards to a possible ride on an 800cc RCV in 2007. He has given Honda first refusal on his services, but would not be likely to turn down a chance to re-join Ducati, especially if given equal machinery to the full factory riders.

My question then is, has Neukirchner ever tried an RC211V?

It all sounds slightly fantastic at this point...

Yes, Neukirchner got a brief ride at the end of last season at a journo test day at Le Mans - Honda often let their favoured sons have a go on the factory bikes.
