Really so a low boost turbo is possible. One of those newer no lag types that produce boost right off idle is what you were talking about right? Those are very cool, saw about one being fitted to a Camaro, no lag at all, pretty much acted like a super charger at a fraction of the cost. Would seem ideal for bikes. It would be interesting to see how one may work out, Ex may have been able to avoid all that extensive motor work with a nice little turbo. I bet The torque you could get with a bit of boost would be amazing.

Repo 145 oh naughty naughty.FB you are far more well adjusted to speed, or just a bigger nutter, than I because I've only taken the bird to 130 a few times (haven't had her on a track yet) and find the wind so violent that any less than full tuck and both hands on the bar would be out of the question. I noticed the camera did get lot lower for the 145 shot though. I had a funny scenario play out in my mind of you guys getting pulled over and the police using those very pictures against you...or you contesting being charged of say 150 "no way officer we documented our speed in pictures" And that can is still outrageous and can't stop being amused by it. Great pics

Just think of that turbo spooling up and the power coming on hard in a turn
and your leaned way over .
That's why I was wondering about if it's one of these new turbos that do not spool up first and then at what ever given rpm shove you like afterburners. In this car aplication it was really neat. Having had a audi 5000 turbo that was absolutely gutless till you got the little numbers in the LCD to read 1 bar then it took off in a almost uncontrolable manner being front wheel drive only. That sort of thing on a bike would be lethal. But this turbo system on the camaro I saw was amazing, through clever gas flow trickery it was always providing boost, no turbo hit just a steady increase in boost from idle to red line. A turbo that thinks it's a super charger. Perfect for a bike.
Factories gave turbos a try some twenty years ago when having somthing turbo charged was all the rage, you had to have one even if it worked like shite. Some were not at all bad , in fact some one at my college has one of the hondas which he bought new way to long ago told him it could be a collectors item now but he could care less, but factory turbo charging is pointless given other power making methods and the lack of refinement of those early turbo systems. With todays turbo tech they could make a very good turbo bike I'm sure but why should they when they can get 160 at the wheel hp from a one liter normaly aspirated motor. I would think the regulaters would frown on bikes with gp power being sold to the public.
But for aftermarket companies who serve the lunatic must have more power fringe turbos are tits.

Supercharging is the way to go.... no turbo lag. There is at least one company in the UK doing superchargers for bikes... FalcoMax anyone?

Brook Henry at Vee Two here in Perth, the Ducati speacialist, has just fitted a supercharger to a new V-Rod with very good results. I might ask him if it in his sights to do something with Aprilias. Who knows!
    Cheers,

    Quite Right

Micah, good call on the Falco Brotherhood. They are about as passionate as Aprilia tifosi get, that's for sure.

Now if I can get that clown at work to sell the low-mile red 2001 SL he has imprisoned in his garage...who says he doesn't really like it...

    WHAT!!!

Yes Ricky, you must persue this with all diligence. A Falco held captive by an unappreciative, neanderthal, buffoon, should be rescued ASAP. You have your orders soldier, now carry them out.

    In Chains

I will continue fighting to liberate the red rocket from its oppressor!

Another clown at work, a Ducati owner, stopped by and went into this little unsolicited monologue about how buying one got him more than the Ducati heritage, it got him into a family! I suppose that was his way of saying it's better than an Aprilia.

He is a funny little man.
