wanted to mention the ride i just took, and this seemed like as good a place as any.

it's been cold and rainy the last few days, and it started out that way this morning. but the sun came out and the roads dried out. didn't totally warm up, got to the upper 60's, but the cool felt good. we'll have plenty of hot weather later. it's been kind of warm recently, so the wildfloweres are blooming.

fired up the v4 and blasted about a 17 mile trip on the freeway. traffic was light and i spotted the only cop around in time. really felt good to ride after so many wet dreary days.

every sensation was pleasant - temperature, smells, speed, and, of course, the sound of the v4.

    love the v4.

It is with great sadness that I report the death of Keith Davidson at AF1. Gone too soon, but if ever a star burnt brightly. Aneurism. I've little to no detail at this point other than his family has been notified. Just got news at six am local time and have been tested up myself contacting co-workers past and present who worked with Keith. If you bought a bike from us in the last 6 years, Keith's invisible fingerprints were all over it.

So sorry for your loss. Took notice of you saying "Keith's invisible fingerprints..." - picked up a Ducati from service years ago, grease hand prints all over the tail section! Great mechanics with attention to detail are priceless!

Don't know if this exactly fits this thread, but had to put it some place.

Just took the V4 out for a blast. The roads were clear, the weather was mild, and the freeway had a fresh coat of asphalt.

    Life is good.

Had a good friend die a week or so ago, and it makes me more appreciative of my good health.

You never know when you are taking your last ride. In that same vein, there are people in all our lives we will never see again. Think about it.

Not too long ago I was trying to get in touch with my high school best friend Marvin. We grew up on motorcycles together, dated the same gal at the same time until we figured out our friendship was more important than a girl who neither of us was ever going to get anywhere with anyway.

It had been decades since we last had contact but he always came to mind, his grin, the meticulous way he did things, the fun we had as teenagers just riding. I moved away for college but after 45 years, was back and close enough to look him up. I spoke to him on the phone and we said it was time to meet up, it was as if it would be another fun ride, a short delay and then it was perfect, the bike, the friend, the route and the memory.

Marvin died in that short period of time, just before the lets do it this month call.

Everything was perfect, everything except time. I waited for the perfect time and didn't realize perfect and right wouldn't be the same.

I miss that guy but have memories to smooth that over. What I will miss the rest of my life is that last ride which didn't happen together and knowing we each made and will make that last ride alone.

Don't wait for the perfect time, the right time is today, not tomorrow and don't wait until it becomes never.
