    Gear-up without extra gear noise?

I've done some searching, and there seems to be a consensus around the fact that the noise from the straight-cut gear-up sets are pretty significant.

Is it true that there only are noisy, straight-cut gear-up kits available for the Ditech?

I can hear mine (2006 morini), but only on decel really. Most times the exhaust and intake are way louder. Besides, straight cut gears sound awesome. Lol

For piaggio ditech I can't remember seeing anything but straight cut gear up kits... For morini ditech Polini made a secondary gear up kit that was not straight cut... that's now discontinued...

I do aim for a touring sound profile on my scooter, so I am afraid it would stand out. And from what I've read, the noise on these straight cut gears are quite noticeable, at least unless you have other noisy parts that mask it a bit. It sounds a little too good to be true that a particular brand of oil will shut it up, "rank1"?

It does look like the Polini secondary gear kit for the Piaggio is indeed straight cut as well.

Anyways, extremely disappointing to find out that there is a HUGE gap in the market for a helical gear up kit, as I would like to lower the RPMs about 600-700RPM for the same top speed as today + being able to go up from there, in order to lower the stress on the engine for long trips. The increased torque of the 70cc kit reportedly makes this possible without hurting acceleration that much.

The only other option to gain a little bit of a higher exchange seems to be installing a Polini Hi Speed variator, but there are differing opinions on whether it will actually reach a little bit of a higher top speed and improve acceleration slightly - probably not worth it.. The Malossi Multivar 2000 is reported to improve acceleration a bit more over the Polini, but at the expense of a little top speed compared to the original variator, which the latter is considered pretty good.

You could always go overrange, but you'll need to open up the trans side of your case a bit.

What i know that lot of car owners using it in transmission so all that noises are gone. Also good for the pistons. It must be working for the gears too. What rpm makes ur engine now?Do u have speed limit in Norway cuz if so then there no reason to buy tuning parts.About the vario, multivar never dissapointed me.

We do have a speed limit for mopeds at 45 km/h in Norway, just like the rest of Europe; that's why I'm trying to keep the noise level down on it! I have been riding for years unrestricted without being caught, although I do not ride the highway that often.

I now have stock gearing, which means i reach about 80km/h on the speedometer at about 9000 RPM, and about 1km/h per 100RPM over that. 80 km/h is the max speed limit with very few exceptions, but cars sometimes drive about 5-10 km/h over that, so it's nice to have a little extra. There is also a bit of difference between the speedometer and GPS speed, although at the Factory digidash it is not that bad at all compared to the analogue Ditech dashes. My main reason for upgrading to 70cc is to be able to hold this speed stable under any condition (windy, slightly upwards etc), plus a bit better acceleration when driving on high speed limit roadsides with lost of turns.

From what I understand, Overrange variators need a mid-race setup in order to function properly? The Ditech's output about 7hp with a 70cc kit, far from enough to pull an overrange transmission system, which is also why I haven't seen anybody in here run it.

There are only 2 available kits for the ditech motor, and they roughly produce the same power.

I just cannot get my head through the fact that there are no helical gear up kits available... the funny thing is that there are helical gears available for other scooter models from Polini, as shown on this page: http://catalogue.polini.com/dep/poli...ingranaggi.pdf
So it`s not that they lack the production facilities.

Im always using overrange. The rear pulley u can even use it with stock vario but the complete kit recommended. The bike has enough power but the sport cyl kit has own limit.Btw,we dont have speed limits, even no license plate. We are driving here like italian style. We dont give a f#ck on brussel eu laws ;-)
