Sitting in Hospital ..little beat up. .rsvr is junk

so thur eve around 4pm I was hit by a car here in cape coral Fla..driver pulled across rode I was riding RSV1000r on with her front bumper impacting my left leg below knee..broke both bones in lower leg..bones sticking out of skin, broke hip and lower vertebra in back. I had surgery on leg this morn, surgeon put rods leg, monday I am scheduled to put screws in hip... lower back they are hoping will be able to keep together with back brace..doing xrays to make sure crack is not spreading in back with brace..if that does not work they will screw that together

driver said they did no see me, my rsvr is wasted

    be careful out there guys...please

on positive note my nurses are great

my wife was taking picture and we were joking around..she is my rock

Sorry to hear Mike. That’s one scenario that is hard to protect against. Glad you were not injured worse. If you feel the slightest bit of push back from the other persons insurance company, get a lawyer. They know how the game is played, we do not.

Yeah, that counts as a "little beat up". You're alive, and will recover, so in the long term, it's a win. Wishing you well...

I'd go a step further and say regardless, lawyer up. Don't say or do a thing more till you do.

Your own insurance company has teams of lawyers whose job is to see that they pay out as little as possible. That's just the sad truth.

Ten years ago this October I had a gal pull a U-turn in front of me.

I landed in Harborview, the big trauma hospital everyone locally is airlifted to. Stayed there a month.

I broke both lower bones in both arms, shattered my right shoulder blade, all 12 ribs on the right, vertebrae T3, my collar bone, and sustained a subdural hematoma on the right rear of my skull. I punctured my right lung with those broken ribs and bled out, needing 4 units of blood to keep a pulse.

She was determined to be the 'at fault' driver, of course, but only had the state minimum of $25,000 insurance. I had $250,000 on the bike, but my hospital bills were near $300,000.

My attorney paid for himself, no question. You need one as your advocate. It's just the way the game is played, and without one you are at a severe disadvantage.

Just my 2 cents and trying to help.

Sorry to hear and I know it's a whole world of pain. Try to lay off the drugs soon as you can. In my case it was 16 Oxycontin a day for the 25 days I was there, then another week of them once out, till my next doctor's appointment. I refused a refill, though he tried to insist. Nope, I know too many people who went down that rabbit hole and never came out.

    thanks guys

my daughter already set it up and the lawyer was here yesterday...lawyer is actually friend of my daughter ..driver of car admitted it was her fault..plus I always wear a camera on helmet, did not get to view video yet

after owning a bodyshop you learn that your own insurance company is not your friend

good to see your spirits are sound and you will recover.
my best friend hit a deer on his Panigale last Sunday.
    it can happen anywhere, anytime.
but shit, driving in FL puts me on edge, can't imagine being on two wheels there.
it's a special kind of chaos
