    07.5 Missing some grunt?

Its been a long time coming, but i finally geared my T to -1+2 as everyone seems to recommend. Rideability around town is greatly improved and acceleration is obviously better but i feel like I'm missing something.

I've seen posts here by people talking about the wild behavior of their Tuonos with a few mods, and i don't feel mine has that. Guys have talked about having to fight 2nd gear power wheelies and whatnot but I can hold second pinned and only feel the slightest bit of lightness in the front, but that's it. Don't get me wrong, the bike is a riot, but should there be more?

I've got Mivv pipes, Map 2, the aforementioned gear change, airbox mod, BMC filter, new fuel filter, and recently sync'd air bleed screws. Valves are all within spec.

    Is it just me?

I have a hard time keeping it down in 1st for sure but to get a power wheelie in 2nd, the RPM has to be in the sweet spot and I have to close then open the throttle full while tugging on the bars. Even with my V4 with wheelie control off and ATC on 3, I still have to be in the sweet spot in 2nd to do throttle only wheelies and that bike has +1 on the rear, an exhaust and the race MAP

Thanks for the response. I suppose I'm just getting inside my own head.

Try sitting a bit further back and more upright.
(Make sure your feet are properly on the pegs)

Its not that i really want to fight wheelies. My old trackbike was a '10 R1 and that thing was a pain in the ass trying to fight that. I was more concerned something was a miss. I felt like the bike should be more lively, but like i said before, i think i may be making something out of nothing.

I felt the same way about mine until I slapped there Akrapovics on it. Night and day difference compared to stockers and map2.

I had an 07.5 with similar mods (OE akrapovics, DNA filter, map 2) and felt similarly. My subjective impression was that the mapping was overall too rich. Additionally, the later engines tend to scream up top with some sacrifice in the mid-range. (Conversely, my '04 does not have the upper-end pull that my '07.5 did!)

Any access to ethanol free fuels in your area? This alone makes an obvious difference in both my Tuono, and Griso. You may also want to give this product a try:

Map2 is definitely rich, but I noticed a huge gain when I went to the Akra's from stock pipes... but it is rich, as evidenced by the fact taht I can smell the dinosaurs being placed back into the earth as I ride.

Your weakest link is the MIVV short cans & thatís with a custom map.
In my experience with this engine, longer cans (like the Arrows) will produce more torque & power with Map 2.

My bike is on map 1 with 14" cans and I can get the front end up in 2nd gear with throttle only at the right RPM so.....
