fully charged battery and still wont turn over

    Hi Folks,

I am hoping that someone has experienced this same issue and has some feedback...

I thought I left the battery tender on my 2004 RSV factory but it was off. I came to a dead battery and had it replaced but the bike will NOT turn over. I've replaced the battery twice and even tried to jump it with my Harley with no luck. The instrument panel lights up and the battery has more than 12.8 v so I know its not the battery. Could there be something else that is not sending the signal to the started to crank over? All I get is the signs (sounds) of a weak battery. Help!

    Michael

    Check the starter relay.

    Hi Teddy,

hum... no, did not do the 15 second key only. am I suppose to turn the switch for 15 seconds in the on position? I can hear the fuel pump prime and under the seat I can her a tick-tick-tick-tick as I hit the start button.

check tip-over sensor. You remove it to change the battery in a Gen2. If installed upside down...nada. I used a paint pen to put an 'up' arrow on it going forward. - Sean

I've got maybe something similar on my Gen 1. I hit the starter and hear the 12v relay getting triggered but no starter action. Shorted the starter solenoid terminals and starter turns so I disconnected and cleaned the solenoid connector and it appeared to work. We'll see tomorrow morning if that was the problem. Try connecting the solenoid terminals if you haven't already.

    Thumbs up

Take your battery to an AutoZone and have it load tested......
Then clean all battery connections +&- and coat them with dielectric grease
Check the tip over sensor......it must be correctly mounted
Short across the solenoid terminals, if it cranks it's the solenoid or the starter push button
    or their connections
