2002 Caponord with all the Rally Raid stuff (forks too!) $3500 obo

Ended up in a trade deal for one of my other bikes I own on a KTM 1290 adventure, so it's time to let go of the beloved Caponord.

Drove to Minneapolis from Chicago to buy it from it's second owner in 2014. The original owner was from somewhere in New Mexico as far as I can tell, based on some notes in the original owners book.

Since purchasing it I've thrown the entire catalog of available goodies and all the no longer obtainable Rally Raid parts on it after scouring the interwebs over a couple years. I've put about 6000 miles on it since I purchased it (Chicago has a short riding season and I have multiple bikes)

The problems- fuel gauge reads about 50% of actual level (you can base milage on the trip meters, I get 35-40mpg typically, or just know that 50% of what the guage reads is actual so when it reaches empty start watching the trip meter to guage empty. There is a also a small oil leak somewhere in the rear cylinder area of the bike. Possibly valve cover gasket, not exactly sure. When the bike sits for a few months you can see build up drippings on the exhaust headers below rear cylinder, which then smokes off in a couple minutes when the exhaust heats up after first warm up after sitting a while. Nothing more than a quarter sized oil puddle after sitting a month or two. Never bothered me enough to chase the source. And if you remember it's there, after the bike sits stored, simply remember to wipe it off the exhaust pipe above the skid plate before starting up the bike and move on without any smoking off. It was never worth stripping it down and chasing the source for such a small leak, but if you have the time or will to do so I do have brand new oem valve cover gasket in the pile of extras and original take offs that come with the bike if that is the source. It does have some paint flaws on the fuel tank (has small pick mark looking spots in some places on it I'm guessing is from ethanol over the years not being friendly to the plastic tank), but it was this way when I bought it, and hasn't gotten any worse. You have to get close up to it to see them. I'll get pics of them when my phone camera works again.

-New OEM fuel pump, filter, and hoses.
-New fuel hose and metal quick connect
-New autoTech coils with Magnacore wires
    -New starter solenoid
-New Mosfet FH008 regulator/rectifier with metri-pack connections (af1 forum "Stanleybobly kit")
-All "brown connectors" from stator replaced with metri-pack connectors
-New OEM controls switch gear (didn't like the faded originals)
-All new rear suspension link bearings and
-New wheel bearings front and rear
-New DID gold chain and sprockets (16t on counter shaft, stock rear sprocket tooth count)
-All new check valves for tank vents
-All the typical vaccum and vent hoses around throttle bodies and airbox replaced
-New OEM throttle body to engine rubber mount adapters (thought one might have hairline crack so replaced them both)
-oem centerstand (sandblasted to clean and freshly professionally powder coated)
    -ECU flashed with Catfish map
-throttle bodies balanced after work completed
-curent tires are Bridgestone A41's with few hundred miles on them. Freshly mounted later half of last summer
-brand new front brake pads with nothing more than a neighborhood ride on them
    -New Moto Guzi Stelvio handguards

    **Rally Raid parts**
-Rally Raid billet bar risers and handlebar
-Rally Raid skid plate/lower carbon protection
    -Rally Raid side crash bars
    -Rally Raid front fender
-Rally Raid forks sourced from a bike in the United Kingdom which I had rebuilt and serviced by the official USA Marzocchi rep at the time I bought them, I'll have to dig up the paperwork to remember what shop that was I mailed them to.
-Rally Raid rear shock links for correct ride height to match forks
    -Hyperpro progressive rear shock spring
-Rally Raid side stand (for correct length with rally suspension)

    **Accessories**
-GPR black slip on canisters and cat eliminating link pipes
-Givi pannier rack with Kappa branded aluminum Outback 37L panniers and 52L top box (will fit two full sized helmets)
    -Oxford heated grips
    - dirt friendly footpegs from a KTM 990

    44,200 miles

I want it to go to an enthusiast. Let's start at $3500. I easily have couple thousand into it in the last 4-5 years. The panniers are worth 1/4 of that price when new, along with the legit Rally Raid stuff that might fetch $1000 on their own. I'm realistic and know these bikes are rare birds and know the crowd that actually understands how awesome these bikes are is pretty limited based on it's rarity and niche in that world. So I'm flexible, especially if you have a legit offer and know what your getting here which makes you an enthusiast with taste

Willing to work with shippers, and possibly for cost of gas money could drive a couple hours in any direction from Chicago to help you get it to a new home.

    Thanks for looking.

************My phone camera literally stopped working this well as I was trying to get pics please together. As soon as I can borrow a phone or camera from someone I'll let even more detail pics added of the controls, flaws, and new condition of the tires. Along with the all the spare parts I can gather up to go with it (rear shock, original exhaust with cats removed, extra windscreens, etc.)**********
****(bike pics are with Michelin anakee wilds on it I mounted for a camping/gravel & fire roads trip I did with a friend last year. I just replaced these with more street friendly beans new T41's)

Bump, fly-n-ride ready. I might even help with the cost of the airfare.
