Just the motor oil or oil in the tank too? Drain to take out starter?

Just changed the oil 10 min before the starter went poop. Can I just drain from the bolt on the motor or do I need to drain oil from the tank too so I donít make a mess?

Iím super bummed right now. Today was the day I thought Iíd have wind in my face.

You want to take down starter? If so, no need to drain oil at all....

Really? Today I read that it’s necessary to drain the motor oil on the sxv to take out the starter here on the forum.

As stated, no need to drain oil, but if there is a significant amount of oil in the case it may leak if you donít lean the bike to the right hand side or stand vertically.

Take your starter apart and see what went wrong before you start throwing money at it. It may be something easy like a good cleaning.

Thanks! I have a rear stand and will pop it up. The bike only ran for a minute after the oil change. Will report back.

Just put it next to wall on some degree. It even will be easier to take starter out.
Cheapest starter is from chineese skuter 125, but it rewuires more labor

How do you drain the tank. All the oil change docs I've seen, you just drain from the motor.

Drain bolt and sealing washer right on the bottom of the tank.

Is this mentioned in the oil change howto?

When I drained mine I just drained out of motor. I had to fill with slightly more than specified to get correct on sight tube so I assumed I'd drained everything.

I do believe this is in the how to section. Drain motor oil from the tank and the case. Drain the gear oil from the case.

Do you have a starter besides the OEM that you would recommend?

Okay, I see it now in the antbreon version (in the howto thread) but I don't recall seeing mention of draining the tank in the irie PDF that sxvinwa sent me, or in the owners manual. I'm not at home right now to check the irie "oil change procedure" pdf, I'll have to check it again when I get home.

I never drain the oil tank only the oil drain on the left and I take out the the fcv valve at the bottom.
The oil from your oil tank (correct me if I'm wrong) flows towards your fcv valve.
