damn. is it bad to say there isn't a better way to go? (obviously too young)
hubris-that's the game with the blocks, right?

    /ˌʌɪəˈtɒlə/

I am gunna put it out there and say that mm will win two more titles with Honda to equal the hated ones record. Then jump ship to another bike. Iím gunna say Suzuki or Ducati. Yuall heard it here first.

I don't want to go while riding a bike. I would prefer to go right after busting a huge nut. Terrible thing to die doing what you love, but there is poetry in it. He was on record pace too. So sad.

Here are my comments from the other thread. Not sure what else to say.

Even my girlfriend and best friend/ crew chief who experienced PPIHC race week with me do not understand the blood, sweat and tears that go into a successful / safe week. To experience a loss like this is beyond my ability to express.

PPIHC is difficult to describe. i watched Carlin's youtube videos from the week before the race on Sunday morning. i think he accurately captures the experience. i also think most people and racers will not comprehend the experience.

It is difficult to explain the effort required before race week, during race week and finally on race day. The effort and dedication Carlin made throughout the years at PPIHC is beyond words.

I never met Carlin, but i did cross the finish line shortly before Bobby Gooden passed in 2014. My emotions after just crossing the line were intense. after Bobby passed, more intense. I cannot express the feeling I had seeing my friends cross the finish line safely.

Carlin was an amazing racer. Seemed like a solid man also. I am very sad for his family and the PPIHC community. I.do not know when we will see another PPIHC racer at his level of skill and sportsmanship.

He will certainly be missed. I bought 2 used bikes from Carlin at his shop over the years and he always was a pleasure to interact with an chat about bikes with. Super knowledgeable, talented, humble, and passionate. RIP

I just got a response from Ducati North America regarding Carlin Dunne’s tragic passing in this year’s Pikes Peak race. This is the official statement I’m allowed to share with you:

“We are all deeply saddened by the loss of Carlin and Ducati has been managing many elements associated to Carlin’s passing that isn’t publicly visible out of respect for his legacy and family. Our focus is on this as priority. Any public actions will be fully vetted from the family prior to any announcement.”

The rep asked that I not share all the details at this time because Ducati is waiting to announce their full intent after the Dunne family is more able to cope with their grief and prepared to participate publicly. The memorial will be at the end of July and so Ducati and the Dunne family are just grieving this huge loss privately as is their right and completely normal.

I can assure you that based on what was shared with me confidentially I’m convinced Carlin is/was viewed as part of the Ducati family and appropriate action and support needed will be given to the Dunnes. The gofundme is there for fans to be able to contribute as well but not the full extent by any stretch of what’s coming from Ducati.

My brother a long time customer at the Santa Barbara shop attended the services & ride for Carlin. He said that it was attend by a wide range (racers, off-road racers, mountain bikers, extreme sports, cyclist) and that is was a testimony to how many lives he touched.
