Having covered Spies' career in the U.S. from when he was riding 125's and 250's in WERA to him winning the AMA SBK Championship, that is unmitigated BULLSHIT! Ben was always very cool and laid back. Mary, on the other hand, was the stereotypical Texas Football Mom. And "spoiled rich kid" he wasn't.

Heard plenty bad about his mom but never heard anyone say a negative thing about Ben as a person, seems like a very laid back, chill guy. I still get a kick out of his Ben Spies method video from his SBK days. "Laguna looks like a T-Rex going Rawr."

I think I saw him do a similar thing on motogp at PI one year where he went through images of each track layout and explained how it looked like an animal. I think PI was a cat?

People are tired of his crap. Check the Wera board, CCS forum, and fellow and current racers from MotoA. He wore out his freebie comments a long time ago. Someone in his position should be promoting the sport rather than badmouthing it but his blind supporters call it real talk. $hit or get off the pot

I wasn't aware they signed Rossi in Race 2 - that's discouraging. How was he supposed to care about racing the rest of the season when he knew he was losing his ride either way? Especially after they had already made the Spies rule to keep a factory seat open for an up and coming Spaniard.

Ahwell, it also seems like it wasn't his cup of tea anyway so no loss. He was fun to watch, for sure. I've never been so excited about a WorldSBK season before, or since.

There was more than a bit of shady shit going on in Spies side of the garage. Mechanic left a clamp on the front brake line at the start of one race and at Laguna Spies entire rear suspension just collapsed during the race. Never seen stuff like that happen on independent teams let alone a top factory team.

Yeah, it clearly wasn't all on Spies. He had shit happening to his racebike that just doesn't happen at that level. It looked like the mechanics were the ones who didn't care. Not Spies.

The "Spies rule" is a conspiracy theory. Look at who had the Yamaha factory seats when Spies came up - there was no factory seat available. It was a dumb rule for sure, but it's implementation and retraction had nothing to do with Spies.

IIRC, didn't Spies say that no one told him the TC didn't work in 1st gear and that's why he crashed coming out of the pits and screwed up his shoulder again?
