Thanks. I have disconnected sensors on various vehicles to test certain things. Sometimes no signal is better than a bad signal. No signal typically puts the ECU in limp-home mode, which ignores a bulk of the sensors and just goes off assumptions based on engine displacement and pre-programmed static maps. Far from perfect, but works in a pinch. I drove my old Ford Ranger for a week with the MAF ( I think it's MAF...) completely disconnected and ran fine. It was bad and sending crap signals to ECU, so would BARELY run with it connected. TPS though - hard to make assumptions re throttle position, and when that's the only instrumentation regarding air input - kinda need it. I suppose you could infer air-flow to some extent based on displacement and RPM (my tach still works), and that would be fine for limp-home, but with no reference to load not much value beyond that... Anyway, I even called some Performance Tuning shops in the area - custom ECU tunes, dynos, etc... I would think they have USB/OBD-II cables... Nope.
