    Gearbox Issues and Oil Leak?

Hi guys, you've probably seen me post on here quite a bit lately. I just recently posted about changing the gearing on my 2010 RSV4 Factory to 15/44. Well, I went ahead and did that and was loving it on the track yesterday. Until..later in the day I started having issues with my gearbox. I kept getting false neutrals as I was trying to shift into 4th and then once it did engage, it would start to lurch and feel as if it skipping teeth on the gear.

I know this is a common problem on these bikes, so it sounds like my gearbox is going to crap and I will need to replace some parts. Still need to pull it out and inspect.

However, as I was loading the bike up to go home, I noticed a small oil leak from the rear of the bike. It looked like it was coming from the headers on the backside of the motor above the rear wheel (see attached pic - pic was taken this morning after it had dried). It wasn't alot but it was fresh and definitely coming from somewhere near there. Any idea's what this could be? Potentially a bad gasket?

    Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!

Oil leak could be from v/c gaskets, how many miles on engine?

For the transmission issues, start by draining the engine oil into a clean pail, look for metal bits on the drain plug magnet and at bottom of drain pan.

Depending on what you find, you could have wear on shift dogs, bent shift forks or possible shifter return pin/ratchet issues.

Thanks, Amauri. There are roughly 7100 miles on the engine but it has been a track bike it's entire life. The valves were adjusted at 6500 miles.

In regards to oil, it is clean...no shavings that I could see.

Do you have an aftermarket quick shifter on it? If so, you may need to re-do the ratio calibration in the unit since you changed the gearing. If you have an OEM QS on it (not sure if 2010's had it), do a calibration through the dash.

My V2 Tuono has a Bazzazz QS and when I change sprockets I have to reset the gear ratio values. If I don't, I get real rough QS's and false neutrals.
Current: '07 Aprilia Tuono Factory, '07 BMW R1200GS
    Past: '14 Aprilia Tuono V4, '17 KTM RC390, '07 KTM Superduke 990, '07 Husqvarna SM610
