    Mystery and Suspense

Is the labeling on a AA 500 drive belt. An hour searching old threads and appears no one has discerned the size of the belt!

Please anyone know what size belt a 2003 AA500 uses?

Same belt size and part number as:

    Aprilia: '03-'06 Scarabeo 500, '01-'04 Atlantic 500, '06-'11 Scarabeo 500 Light

    Piaggio: '07-'09 MP3 400, '05-'08 X-9 500, ’05-’12 BV 500, BV 500 Tourer

Your best off with the real belt which is easily obtained from AF1 as most aftermarket belts cause excess drive face wear and are compromises:

Based on the responses, this must be a closely held secret!

Does anyone know what size the belt is?

Most of us don't really care since the correct belt that lasts without damaging the drive faces is easily obtainable at reasonable cost so why shorten the life of an expensive variator by trying to match up something that is a somewhat close fit but will potentially leave you stranded and cost you much more in the long run. With the OEM Belts you can see 35,000 to 50,000+ miles from the stock variator.

As for secrets its known and is usually published in the Service Station Manuals of the bikes it fits however I have the 250 and not the 500 so I did not purchase a 500cc Service Station Manual. You could simple call or email the Aprilia or Piaggio Technical Support Rep for your country and they will be able to give you exact measurements or you can simply measure a new OEM belt.

Some say its 28x14,2x1036 and it use to be available as Dayco Part #8190K however that has not been available directly though Dayco US for a while though it may be available through Dayco AU and others. I would still want to see a fresh new OEM belt and measure it out or make the call to my Piaggio Service Rep first at their main office for my area.
