    Starter going dead?

I know it's a weakness on this bike.
I'm wondering if it usually dies without previous notice or if it's a slow process...

The battery is not as strong as it could be and sometimes the starter crank, sometimes not.

Bike is 2008 with 2900 kms.

I say get the battery sorted out first, before you ruin your sprag too, when it kicks back. Does it start fine when you jump start it with a car battery? Where in Canada are you located?

I didn't jump start it. I recharged it and pushed the button!.
I simply don't trust the protection circuit on this bike
Yes, I'll get a new battery but since the season is quite short here, I'm trying to sort problems before they happen.
I'm in Drummondville, half-way between Mtl and Qc....(about 600$ for the registration alone, thanks SAAQ)

12 volts is 12 volts, so if you connect a car battery to the bike (and preferably remove the bike battery to bypass it), that should give you an idea of the state of the bike battery for comparison. Just DO NOT START THE CAR and you’ll be fine. If there’s no difference, you can move on from the battery.

I’ve heard good and bad things about the way bikes are registered in Quebec. Higher registration fees but lower insurance rates?

SAAQ decided to isolate motorcyclists from the global insurance pool, meaning that we have to pay way too much. Above that, they subdivised the group in arbitrary categories based on the "type of bike". Remember that this insurance covers only the hospital fees, we still have to get a mandatory insurance for civil responsability and the bike itself.
For example, I pay 550$ for the RXV, on wich 466$ is for body-insurance.
As a comparaison, someone who breaks both legs and arms in a ski accident has nothing to pay, neither insurance or hospital fees...

    Non sense.
