So do the crf450 clutch baskets fit?

I read on here that 2008 and older crf450 clutch baskets fit, or fit with modification.

    Can anyone confirm this?

I know hinson makes a basket, and rekluse does or did make a basket.
I am partial to barnette baskets with stainless wear pads.

I have a 2009 crf450 which is different from the 2008 and older bikes.
I have an old basket and an old basket for an xv.
I took the xv basket apart, I can make a 2009 crf basket work by boring it and facing the boss off the back.

But if an 08 is closer or will just work, that would be great.

i read often here that the steel plates and lined plates from crf fits.
but why will you use the crf basket when hinson and rekluse make
a basket specialy for sxv (with all you need too) ?

the hindson is in my view the best aftermarket basket.

A hinson cant touch a barnett.
The barnette has stainless wear plates.
Barnette doesnt make an xv basket, but they do make a crf clutch.

I believe Hinson does minor machining changes to the CRF450 basket to convert it for use with the XV and it is not a drop in swap. Same probably would hold true for the Barn model, but I haven’t seen exactly what was machined off.

I am almost positive that the 2008 model will work by enlarging the ID / removing the splines.

    The hinson is fully anodized.....
    Except the bore...
Which kind of points towards it being a modified 08 crf unit.

    Dude.
    Go look at a barnette..
    http://www.barnettclutches.com/off-r...h-baskets.html
Stainless liners on the basket that make it last forever and a half, and can be replaced for 20$

Is the oem basket die-cast-aluminium ?

Such a cnc basket from T-6 aircraft aluminum will have less disposition to grooving ... i think.

    Yes,
The quality aluminum, 6061 is by far not the strongest or wear resistant by the way, something like 7075 is stronger and harder, but not weldable.

The hard anodized 6061 is much more durable than the cast aluminum,

    The stainless is another level

    Cast aluminum is 40 rockwell
6061 hard anodized is marginally better, the hard coat adds abrasion resistance but the substrate is still soft at 40
304 stainless clocks in at 70 rockwell

The plates slide more easily across the harder surface and will resist wear much longer.

I find slippers to be quite hard on the basket

I don't know if they changed the baskets from 07 to 08. My 07 has an STM slipper for a CRF that was a straight drop in. But I also put in CRF fibers just to be sure

They don’t drop right in. I confirmed this with Hinson when I bought my clutch basket because they’re very similar.
