    A review,
Excitement on this last days of testing. The teams were going a lot faster today and even Mercedes was turning up the horsepower in the W10. Sebastian Vettel was quickest already before lunch time with Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas as second fastest.
Around 15:25 in the afternoon session Vettel had to pull over because the Ferrari SF90 stopped due to an electrical issue, which would take too long to repair and called it a day. Vettel did drive 110 laps and had an encouraging day.
Yesterdays we saw a big crash of Pierre Gasly and quick lap times of Ferrari Charles Leclerc and Toro Rosso rookie driver Alexander Albon. The crash of Gasly caused a gearbox failure and the team was working whole day to fix it. Max Verstappen who took over the wheel of Gasly for today could only drive 29 laps.

Around 17:00 Lewis Hamilton got the C5 tyres bolted on his Mercedes and went out for a couple of hammer time laps. He was able to come up to 0.003 sec of the quickest 2019 lap time during testing of Vettel.
The quickest lap time of last years 2018 winter testing was also set by Sebastian Vettel in the Ferrari SF71H. He than drive a 1:17.182. This years fastest lap time set by Vettel was almost 1 second faster, which is a huge accomplishment difference. Looks like the bigger wings generate a lot more downforce to go even quicker around the long Catalunya corners.
Toro Rosso's Daniil Kvyat was the last to pull into the pits and to turn of his engine.
Eight! teams drove more then 100 laps today. In total the teams drove 1.132 lap today, a distance of 5.270 km around the Catalunya circuit.

Just for info for the above data the C5/C4 is the tyre used.

I think Leclerc has made a lot of his supporters happy, thought he would.

    Ferrari strong, are Mercedes sandbagging?

Here in The Netherlands nobody is interested in Hamilton in his merc taxi or Vettel in his red Fiat.
The only question is here : how good is the Honda behind Verstappen in the soda car.
So will he become champ this year or next?
    We could be biased.

I would think in The Netherlands your big concern would be "will Max be able to soundly beat his new team mate", as that will likely be his only shot at "a successful season" in the next year or so. If he can't soundly beat his new team mate, a guy who is new to that team and not nearly as highly rated, he may end up like DR before him. It is a short distance from the next great champion to old news in F1.

It sucks anyway. Kimi doing a half-ass out lap, and right when you think he's coming around to put in a flying lap he pulls into the pits.

Also, those cars make some odd sounds.

We are quite sure he can be at the same level as Hamilton/Schumi/Senna if the cars allows him.
Last half of the season he scored many points (second to Hamilton) without the best car.
He takes quite some risk but he had too : the car wasnt able to get on the podium, both Ferrari and Merc are better.
His teammate Ricciardo, great guy and fast enough to beat Vettel in the same car, lost the edge on him.

You're not only be world champ if you're the fastest driver, you also need the best team with personal and keep them motivated on a bad day, like all race classes.
Getting all that is a skill on his own, Schumacher was very good at it, Alonso the worst.

Lets hope RB, Merc and Ferrari have there car on a similar level and do some propper racing between the boys and there assistants (Sorry Bottas,Leclerc and yes Gasly)

Mark my words after 3 or 4 races.

I think I posted this trailer in the 2018 F1 thread but now that the 2019 season is about to start, it makes for an interesting 'prequel'.

Each episode sort of focuses on a different team/drivers. It's fun to hear all the unbleeped expletives coming from the drivers.

    It's up on Netflix now.

after looking at the teams, i hope this isn't another mercedes/ferrari season. they are just stronger than everyone else, but hopefully we get some surprises.
