A few questions from a potential buyer.

Hi fellow Aprilia owners. I'm considering picking up a 2011 1200 at a local HD dealership with 4K miles on the clock. Owner is asking $6K. Just wondering from current owners how this deal sounds and if this particular year had any outstanding issues? I have always had a thing for the 1200 and I like the way it looks better than my 2016 SDR but as we all know looks are not everything, so if you good folk wouldn't mind schooling me a bit I would be very grateful.
    Current rides:

    2019 Speed Triple RS
    2017 Tuono Factory
    2016 Superduke 1290R

LOL, I guess this sub-forum is not exactly lighting the internet on fire.

I also have a 2011 DD1200. These were only made for two years 2011 and 2012. Very entertaining bikes. Think of it as an early SuperDuke 1290. Great handling and brakes and giggle in your helmet instant on power. A bit short on range and seat comfort but all around a great bike.
6K is a steal if it is in good operating order. A lot of good info on the forum here if you review.... Cheers Tom

Hey, I'm right across the bridge on the Isle of Marin

Do it! I have a 2012, but same shit - torque everywhere, butter-smooth, agile and super comfy ergos (esp leg room). I've only had mine since December, but this love affair is developing fast and furious. Can't wait for warm, dry conditions....

$6K is a good price, but it's a dealership - try to make a deal!

Hey DJ Nick - as a new owner (2 weeks and c.500 miles) I may be able to add some insight; first off, it's a great bike. Folks are right about bags of torque, and it being a great fun bike to ride. That said, the SDR is (in my opinion) a superior machine - if they weren't so expensive this side of the pond its what I'd have over the DD1200. The DD will be more comfortable though (re leg room), but have a shorter range, a more vague front end and generally less precise handling. I'd compare the DD1200 to a sporty Range Rover, with the 1290 SDR being a BMW M3 or something - still comfy but a proper missile. I can't comment on price as it'll differ hugely being US vs UK, but I got mine for 4800 with 11k miles, in excellent condition.

    Hope that helps!

The black one with the Leo Vince cans? That's been for sale for a while. Agree with 2Wheels, you can probably make a deal on it.
I would pull off the rear bodywork and look for stress cracks in the subframe before you make a deal. View my previous posts for more info.
If it looks good, I'd jump on it.
