Bautista a second a lap faster than anyone on the first 8 laps. That V4 under Bautista is fast. very exciting.

Sounded like a GP bike and he got 16 seconds on them at one point ,short shifting into turn 11 .It looked so planted it was almost like he was not trying at all ,then again he is a Moto GP rider .Daughter and I had a great day.

Pretty impressive showing for Bautista, Sprint race should be interesting. Sanctions in 3 2 1?

Interesting that Bautista was so dominating on the first race but other Ducatis were relatively low down the list.
Maybe he has adapted better to the new bike, or something to that effect.
Phillip Island has not been a very good indication on how the rest of the season progresses, some seasons ago Suzuki was very strong here and completely at sea for the rest of the year.
Also Yamaha and BMW showed good speed, letīs hope this will be make for close racing and an interesting season.

Traditionally PI has thrown up some oddball results that don't necessarily follow thro' into the remainder of the season - but no denying the Bautista/Ducati combination is looking impressive after one race.

Pity Leon Haslam crashed out, he was looking comfortable up to that point.......and the Honda did its usual trick of pitching Leon Camier off and no-one seeming to understand why.

Can't see anybody having much for Bautista this weekend, the combo is just to fast here.......12kph faster on the straight than the opposition? Couldn't even hold a slipstream against that advantage.

I guess he might get roughed up in the sprint race, which might influence the result, but given a hole shot and clear track he'll be gone.

Anyone know if Ducati starts out with a big rpm advantage by the rules? If so, they will soon be handicapped.

Their rev ceiling is 16000 as a starting point I think against Kawasakis 14600, both figures are based on the road bike max revs + a bit......it's a tad more complicated than that of course, I think I saw an explanation on the WSBK website recently. The Ducati has the advantage of desmo to run such high revs and Kawasakis new motor has cancelled out the rev penalty of 600 rpm they endured last year by raising the road bike rev ceiling with some trick new valve gear.
Bit early to be talking about reducing rev limits but it's always in the background ready to stifle engineering excellence.

I threw the sanctions bit out for a cheap laugh.

    And

Honda's not really in it to win it.

Interesting to compare Alvaro's lap times and sector times to last year.

Pit stops/tire changes in the WSS race is crazy. Pirelli can't make a race DOT tire to last 18 laps?
The rule needs changed to allow slicks in WSS...IMO of course. I think it's a safety issue. Dunlop FTMFW.
