    Yes, it is a necessary thing. Several times there were clutch problems for this reason. I use home made.
    Aprilia RS50 1999. Bidalot RR 70 , Top Racing (Jasil) crankshaft, Motoforce PWK 24 carburetor , V-Force 3 reed valve , Polini Big Evoliution air filter , Top Performances intake manifold, Stage6 R/T digital internal rotor ignition PVL, Top Performances kevlar clutch, Metrakit Pro Race 3 exhaust , 13/47 gearing

    That thing, the clutch arm, starts to stand bad in its place over times, and tries to jump up. Then the clutch stops working. This is a factory defect in Minarelli AM6. They didn't make a reliable fix on this part.

    Finally, an explanation for the use of this item. I have been having these issues of where the clutch arm slides up to the point where its so high out of the hole the clutch stops working, just from pulling the lever in, the whole shaft moves up. I'll have to look into finding a cheaper one or making one.

    I made one for myself by bending some scrap metal and drilling a hole in it. You can mount it to the side of the engine.
