    2009 aprilia Beo wont start.

Hi Fellows. I have a 2009 500 Beo with 11,000 miles. Bought it recently and brought it home and took all the body parts off . Changed the belt , rollers , air filter, and had most of all the black floorboeards and all of the other black parts.
Battery has 13 plus volts.. So bike has been apart for about 2 months. Left the seat pan off, so that i could see everything when i fired it up. Couldnt get it started yesterday, but figured out this morning that i had forgot to pull in the brake lever.
Pulled the lever in at noon today , and it fired right up. Let it idle for a coulple of minutes, then gave it a little gas and when i let off the gas , it died. Went to restart it, and it is doing like when i didnt pull the brake lever in , nothing. All guages and light come on as normal, but nothing at the start switch.
When I bought this bike , it never had the key fobs. I called the 2nd owner, but he said he never had them either.
But this was never a problem ever with the 1st owner or him. I guess these bike all came with key fobs? It does have an actuator for the seat release, but i just use the manual one.
Start switch is on , Kickstand up and holding brake lever?
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Will go with my mechanic tomorrow to see if he can diagnose anything i may not be seeing.
    thanks

Please share. Hopefully it was something simple like bumping the kill switch when you gave it some throttle.

vernon, not sure but it is doing it again. I tore the bike down completely and repainted a lot of the black parts, like running
boards , headlight piece , tailight piece and the middle piece down by the gas tank. I started to put a lot of pieces back together this weekend , and decided to try and start it , just to make sure everything was ok, and nothing. everything comes on as usual but it will not do anything. Battery has full charge and shows good on the meter.
Will have to go back to the drawing board again. Last time it just started on its own . I dont know what is causing this. I thought it was the micro switch in the kickstand , but i never changed it . I brought my mechanic from the lumber yard with me , when it just started out of the blue.

have you heard of any of these micro swithes on the kickstand or the brake lever going bad? Thats kind of what it seems like.
Its just like the kickstand is down, or the brake lever in not pulled in . Everything powers on as should.
    thanks for any info.

Yes micro switches do fail and require replacement especially if your near the coast or have a lot of rain and leave the bike stored outside.

lumberjack, I am in Charleston SC now, a climate kinda like the good country down there around LaFayette, LA. Yes, it is humid but not cold here. I've got 3 Beo 500ie's but the one here in Charleston is doing the same thing now.

Use jumpers off my truck, scoot battery is fully charged, new battery in key fob, kick stand up, both brake levers pulled hard, and getting nothing when hitting the start button.

I'm getting no alarm beep when using the key fob, and the seat lock/unlock actuation is not working either. I think these are key to knowing what is going on, but not sure what to make of these things.

It could well be the side stand switch, or a switch at the brake levers but I hate to tear the whole scoot apart til I have a better idea where to tear into.

Vernon, My mechanic came to the house today and we really didnt do anything except test electrical components to see if we had fire at different points on the scoot. No fire at the start button , so we tried jumping the solonoid with with a screwdriver . It turned over , but would not start, so we messed around with a few other things, and i pulled the key out and turned it around , and put it back in , and the damn thing started. This is the 2nd time this happens, that i get locked out. The 1st time my mechanic was with me and the same thing happened , it just started after tinkering with it for a couple hours. So as of today , we still dont know what is causing it to do that. I dont have key fobs for this 2009. When i bought it , the 2nd owners didnt have them either. So I dont know if this could have something to do with it or not?.

Everything works fine when the bike is not locked up . It wont start when you jump it off the solonoid , but when the bike is working properly and you hit the start button , it starts right up.
So that tells me something is locking me out , and i dont know what it is . I wish had the key fobs, if it ever had them?
