    Question Shiver 900 exhaust solutions

    Hi everyone,

I have a 2017 Shiver 900, and I'm looking for an exhaust to replace the stock one.
Akrapovic has been the first to update to 900, followed by GPR, but SC Project is preparing for the beginning of 2019, and MIVV too.

Has anyone bought a GPR double M3 Black ?
I don't find any pics, only the one GPR published on Facebook...

    Hi

I have GPR silencers on my Shiver 900 - they are versions for the old 750, but fit OK. See my thread:

They cost me about 600 euros; a lot less than the Akrapovic.

I have the Akras on my Shiver, this was an importer demo bike and they were on it when I bought the bike.
Strangely, I thought they were the wrong way around as the slashed ends are pointing inwards but after closer inspection they seem to be the correct way.
On the Akra website the ends are slashed outwards, apparenty they have made some changes here.
Quite a big weight saving, about 6 kgs, and from relatively high up also so probably a good thing in this sense.
Sound is also pretty nice, not as metallic as the original exhaust.

Even with the 750s, the Akra cans came in two flavours: pointy in and pointy out.

The official "Aprilia Racing" cans available as a factory option matched the stock exhaust in terms of arrangement, whereas the aftermarket ones offered separately by Akrapovic are what might appear to be the more "correct" fitment, similar to other bikes. They just put the stickers on the cans oppositely. I have the "official" Aprilia / Akra cans, but mounted in the aftermarket way so the stickers don't show.

I first thought it was only the end caps that were pointing inwards but there is also this support against the side panel that determines which way the silencers should be.

Those aren't on mine, I guess because the plastics are different. Looks like the same bungs as for the baffle screw holes.

Mine also have carbon "heat guards" (with "Aprilia racing" printed on them) on the curved part of the Y-pipe immediately before the cans, level with the springs, and which weren't on the aftermarket version.

I noticed that the mounting kit has become more of a finished product for these. Mine is made of many fiddly parts, whereas now the plate for under the seat / subframe is basically one piece with all the hardware (nuts, spacers, brackets etc.) fixed to it already.

    Mine are like these:

They stopped putting the carbon heat guards on with the 2010+ model, it looks like they didn't work with the revised pillion peg layout:

And these are the aftermarket type:

I put the GPR Deeptone on my ‘18 Shiver 900. The Deeptone version I got was specifically made for the Shiver 900 (slight difference from the older 750 model). They sound amazing!
