    Fork bottom bolt

Quick question, maybe amauri could chime in. I have a 2013 RSV4R APRC that originally had Sachs forks. The original owner put in ÷hlins FGK223 30mm carts. Anyway, I was servicing them and on reassembly the bottom bolt securing the tube in the stanchion snapped (I was using a torque wrench). Actually itís a banjo bolt for the Sachs setup where the damping adjustment is on the bottom of the stanchion. Since the ÷hlins setup has separate rebound and compression adjustments in the valves themselves, am I ok replacing the banjo with a normal bolt? Looking for a sanity check, thanks.

    First off...

When you re-assembled the cartridge into the fork bottom, did you make sure to align the machined step on the bottom of the cartridge with the machined slot on the inside of the fork bottom before tightening the bolt?

I did have a hard time lining it up at first but yes. I donít think it fully seated the first time which might have contribute to the banjo snapping. After removing the bolt it seated much easier. Itís such a low torque value I was surprised when it gave

Iíve installed these same cartridges on a Ducati before and serviced those easily. But those were on Showa forks

I don't see why you would need a hollow banjo type bolt as the original, since the NIX30 carts don't use the bottom valve.

As std bolt should be fine as long as it seals.
