That's a rumor floating around, but why would Stoner return to racing in the lowest supported/respected series in the world when he could get a MotoGP or WSB ride in an instant.

I think many teams, in the two top world series, would break existing rider contracts to put Stoner in the saddle.

No, I don't believe that he would either.

But bringing in overseas riders is no bad thing IMHO......for a start a 'name' sparks additional interest when folks tire of watching the same riders going round and round year on year but also its a window into the outside World, it gives existing riders a better idea of where they are at in comparison to other series rather than being stuck in a goldfish bowl where they might believe they are the greatest only to find out that they're not.

That happened in BSB many moons ago when good, hungry, International riders came in and wiped the floor with the established riders, as a result everybody has to up their game - its a good reality check.

But what you don't need are riders that are essentially finished and are their only for the pay cheque to top up their pension.....we've had a few of those as well, Nori Haga springs to mind!

I think what you said there has merit, but the most important statement was RIDERS, bringing in one top level rider that will win all races, well the novelty will last about 4 races.

Now if you could make that 5 or 6 well known riders, that might help.

The head of MotoAmerica is trying to bring in big names from the international leagues to garner attention. Melandri fell through when he found another WSBK ride for next year so he turned his attention to trying to coax Stoner back into the saddle

    Who, Wayne Rainey?

But Stoner though? That is ridiculous. He might go ride dirty bikes with Ben for some laughs over here, but I really can't see Stoner wanting to compete here.

Shoot for Mars, land on the moon approach maybe? Idk. It's a bit of a stretch to try and pull that much clout.

The industry as a whole is suffering. When my 44 year old ass is the youngest one in the dealership, then the industry has a problem. No wonder manufacturers are pulling support.

Knew this was coming, but it is official now that Herrin is Tony’s new team mate at Yoshimura Suzuki.

Claudio Corti has shown up in BSB for 2019, in one of the weakest teams on the grid......wasn't in MotoA this year?

Don't know if anyone has been paying attention to the coverage announcements that MA has been making... Lots of positive improvements in that area.

Normally this would be good news however we still have to listen to greg white juggle hairy balls in his mouth. JHC

Unfortunately, the "better" in-house tv coverage wont do anything to attract teams to go racing. You can paint a turd gold, but it will always be a turd.

Times have changed, for the worse, regarding motorcycle sales which is what factories base their racing budgets on (Yamaha US has dumped 600SS). American culture has MUCH to do with the success but mostly failure of roadracing in the U.S.. Supercross is much more viable, where you can see every single rider in every part of the track from one seat (NASCAR). As mentioned somewhere in this thread, the size of the U.S. does not make it easy on anyone trying to participate in a series, let alone for the fan to travel to see their favorite riders. In Europe, you can hop on a train and be in any one of a dozen two-wheel crazed countries in a few hours. Not so in the U.S. where 98% of the population HAS NO CLUE that roadracing is even a sport.
