    Here.

Mine started cutting out randomly a few years ago. It was caused by an intermittent EFI relay. Number 10 in the diagram:

Last year, I once experienced an engine shutdown whilst on the highway at speed. If you are familiar with Bay Area traffic, it's pretty nuts out there. I was in the center lane.

Going through the quick checklist for a flame out at altitude, I cycled the kill switch. She came back to life.

It hasn't occurred since. The most likely culprit in my case is that I cycled the relays. I did a close inspection and cleaning of the kill switch, this didn't appear to be the root cause.

After cycling the switch, power was back as I rolled on the throttle.

    Hi folks,

it's been already a little while. Last two days I prepared my RST for the slowly heading season (yaay just only 11 days waiting). Means oil/filter/sparkplugs etc.
While lifting the tank to remove the airbox I noticed that the connector towards the fuel-pump was covered in oil.

    Photo -> https://abload.de/img/rst-connector-fuelpumockc3.jpg

I was just wondering where this oil came from. So I spotted a missing overflow hose at the right bottom downside of the airbox was missing - I guess that this could be the cause. It also makes sense, even if the overflow is on the over side.
Possibly on higher loads and especially load-changes the fuel-pump had a higher or fluctuating line resistance by this soked connector, dropped an short error and was off. I cleaned it and fixed the overflow hosing.

Okay, I really hope that this was the issue.
I will see more on 01.03.2019 - then my season registration and my insurance starts for the first rideout and test, at least of the weather does not cross my plan :-D.

    I keep you updated

Looks to me that the most everything in that pict is clean except for the plug. Are you sure that was from oil leaking on the right side of the air box?

I'm thinking you have some fuel seeping thru the potting in the connection inside the fuel pump and dow the wires until ingest to the plug. What you are seeing is dirt getting attracted to fuel vapors. That may sound crazy, but our regulator plugs get dirty/oily from oil seeping thru the wires from the stator.

If that's the case, then you have a familiar problem that will require draining the tank and either replacing that piece of harness that goes thru the pump plate - or repairing it the way so many of us have done.

Also, if this really is the case, your intermittent problem will definitely strand you again - no matter how clean that connector in the pict is.

    Hi RAS,

thanks for the hint - that could also be an option. As you say so, I remember that sometimes when I turned the ignition on, there was a weird sound from the fuel-pump (I do not mean the regular humming.
But unfortunatly, I am faced with another problem that appeared again.. the speedo died again. Slowly it feels like a "deja vu". Last year while season preparations, this year. And I can't get the cause. Anyway, can't test the orig. issue from this thread next weekend. I had to sent the speedo to repair..

    Hi,

last week I _finally_ got my dashboard back. Of course as not repairable..(thanks to the 'specialist' to make me wait so long).
So I finally could test if the issue appears again (without working speedo). During the test ride without all covering for about 15-20 minutes she was running all fine.

I decided to go on a longer ride. Right after the first km it appeared again. I thought mh, maybe the fuel from last year. Then she went pretty fine for next 150 km and the issue appeared again and again. It was a "lot of fun" to get her back home with aprox. pushing 80 times the starter. Next I am going to do is having a closer look at the fuel pump. And if there is some new liquid seeping to the plug.

Hope to find the reason soonest. Next challenge is to replace the OEM dash with the aftermarket Koso RX2 GP..
