i test rode a Stelvio and fell in love with it. i really wanted to buy one- but i just couldn't afford it so i went with a used R1200GS for two up touring.

this new Guzzi looks great and i could see myself getting one of these some day. i really loved the Stelvio when I was able to demo it for a day. the bike felt better to me than the new R1200GS i tried. it felt more solid and capable. i like the ergonoics better and my partner like the seat better and she is going to decide what our next bike is.

i just figured that rather than spending 12k i don't have- i'd spend 5k i don't have and get something for two up touring to make sure the missus likes it. if she doesn't i can sell it and get most of money out of it- and i'll get something for one up off road touring. if she loves it- we'll beat the piss out of it and ride it all over and go camping and see what the west has to offer on two wheels as a family.

anyway- i know i said nothing here- but if this thing is as good or better than the stelvio folks are going to be psyched.

it could certainly share garage space with my rsv4 rr.

The Stelvio turned out to be a handful at slow speeds for us two-up. Doing a "u-ee" for us on a country road after missing the turn, was a three-point turn. The missus and I had to work in unison to get the big gal turned in a tight radius. The Capo, on the other hand, is a "Damn it! Supposed to turn there!! Hold on!" proposition. We check for traffic, and if clear, lean, it and roll it around easily. Very maneuverable and easy to turn around and head it into the opposite direction.
The NTX was a comfy ride for us though. Everything was nice and spread out...but just too big for us. If this new Guzzi has sisters that have the same heart, I'll be interested. But I also know that I have a couple of aprilia dealers within a sane driving distance, as opposed to one Guzzi dealer that may (or may not) be around for much longer.

In OZ, that would be about right (around $A20K) if compared to the Triumph and BMW 800’s. But I dont know how many they will sell given the competition and Guzzi still seen as a curious and slightly odd marque more than a serious contender, which is a shame as the models usually deserve better.

    Correct, hence the smiley face

    But it’s a most enjoyable 55HP.

    Short frame Tonti's?

Showing my ignorance here but as Pauline Hanson might say "please explain. "

From the MkIV on the frame had a taller steering head and the swingarm began to grow. By the time the Cali 1100 lumbered on to the scene the bike had extra frame bracing to the gearbox and the wheelbase had increased by approximately three feet!

USA pricing just announced, arriving June/July time frame, $11990 for the grey, or $12990 for the Adventure (yellow/white or red/grey multi-color with top and side cases).

I must be getting used to $15,000 motorcycles because that sounds like a very good price point.
