    Unhappy Belt Slapping

I have a 2009 Aprilia 200 Scarabeo that has belt slapping. The slapping comes from the belt slapping on the roller and makes noise. I removed the roller and the noise stopped. I put the roller back because it's there for a purpose. My question to you out there is how to correct this to stop the noise? Do I buy a new belt, remove the roller or etc.........? Thanks, Jesse

I have an '08 Beo 200. I have never experienced what you describe, but does the roller move freely? Is your belt an OEM belt. Is it a recent install or how old/many miles are there on it? More info could help with a solution.

OK. Has it been making noise since 0 miles? How does it run/ride on the road?
The variator and rear pulley, as they change the ratio during acceleration do cause the belt to move somewhat but not enough to make a slapping noise. When you run it with the trans cover off and safely on its stand does the belt move fully?
1700 is very low mileage for an'09. Perhaps the variator isn't moving freely due to a stuck rollers or slider blocks.
What have you had apart so far?

The belt slaps only when idled and makes noise. Once I accelerate the noise stops. I bought the bike used and looks very good. I'm the second owner. Maybe I'll just leave it alone????

Maybe mine slaps and my hearing just isn't as good as yours. At idle the belt doesn't flex much so it shouldn't be slapping at all. If it rides well otherwise.......
Being as old as it is a service is warranted even with the low miles.
    Safe riding.

Thank you all very much. The bike works very well on the road. I have driven it up to 80 mph.

If thats the original belt then your on borrowed time. Its old, hard and has taken a set from sitting so long in one position.

If you have not already done so you really need to ZeroSet all the maintenance items such as belts, rollers, clutch grease, oil, gear lube, filters, brake flush, coolant flush, etc. Also be sure that the tires are less than 3 years old and not the originals as a tread separation at 80 mph is not by any means fun.

if it still slaps the case check the belt for streching and wearmarks and check the contrast spring for wear
when they go they often cant stretch the belt fully and the belt gets loose and slaps on the casing
also variator sliders when they are worn produce a ratteling noice
