    Scarabeo 150 oil fill plug

I was given a Scarabeo 150 that has sat for many years. I am in the process of cleaning the carb and changing all the fluids. When I pulled the oil fill plug that is exactly what it was.. A plug.. No dipstick at all. This does not seem right. I have the owners manual, shop manual and engine manual. Does anyone else have a plug like this? One without a dipstick? I had to take off the plastic just to get at it. What a poor design to have to go through all of that just to check the oil.

Congratulations to the wonderful world of the Scarabeo 150. What year is yours, I'll assume its a Rotax engine. You need to start with a shop manual for your scoot. Spend the money and get this one from AF1. The free ones are copies and most are not searchable and only a few in english. On page 41 they show you the dipstick. I haven't changed the oil filter on mine but it looks like its a real bitch. A great site for these scoots is Italian but with Google translate you can get a clue. https://www.loscarabeorotax.com/ There are also some knowledgable people here that can help you. Keep us posted on your progress.

Thanks for the reply. I already have all the manuals. Purchased them from Af1 racing... Our forum sponsor.. I have taken the bike completely apart and ha e drained the gas and removed the carb for cleaning.. Changing all the fluids.. I know where the dipstick should be.. But it is just a plug!

I'll take a look the next time I have the scooter out and let you know what I find. My memory is that its pretty hidden.

you need to remove some plastics to fill but checking it just takes reaching way up and loosening it. Probably better done on a cold scooter because of the proximity to the engine. let me know if that helps.

Yes.. That's it.. I know where it is. I thaught there was a dipstick to measure the oil.. It is just a bolt. I have it completely apart and am waiting for the oil, gear lube, coolant, air filter, oil filter to arrive so I can start it up! It sat in a field for 10 years. So long it actually had vines growing out of it. I have pulled the gas tank and carb. Everything is looking good. Here are pictures of it as of today. Btw I got it for 100 bucks. Was told it was good for parts only.. Challenge accepted! I have restored many Yamaha and Honda scooters over the years. This is going to be fun! Should have it running in the next few days.

I think my upside down pic was confusing. Here is the dipstick:

If you look up from the bottom you can just see it. I was able to reach up and pull it out. If you don't have that then someone replaced it with a bolt or you don't have the Rotax engine.

It should have a dipstick, maybe it got broken off because of the location. I'd get a new one from our sponsors here. Bet it got broken trying to check the oil without removing the plastic body panel. I never tried doing it without taking that off since there's only 6 screws to remove. Shitty place to locate it just the same. Great scooter. I sold mine and miss it, actually just visited the buyer tonight and took it for a ride as I was thinking about buying it back.

I just got home from riding mine to work. Of course I took the long way home. This is a great scoot to ride around town, it eats up the potholes. No so much fun when it needs work done.
