    gear position indicator ?

    Hi Folks,

Does anyone use one of these ? If so which brand and how didi you connect it ?

There seem to be some & cheap options on the market - $15 or so - but they need magnet sensors. Wondering if anyone has fitted one and if so how ?

    Thanks

    Robert

Not on an Aprillia, But i did have on on my last CBR as they dont come with a gear indicator. But i used a HealTech GiPro unit. it worked very good. Was a simple install, just plugged into an already exsisting connector (diag port)

The RGV VJ22 sharing the same engine, I did mount a gear position indicator but using mechanical plots on the primary shaft output (where the neutral sensor is located).
Using LED's for Display. (Home made)

PM me if more interest in this alternative - I found it very useful on the track -

Wow, great work, nicely done mate. Thanks for sharing.

I've ordered one of the $10 ones on Ebay and will give it a whirl. Looks like I'll need to glue the magnet to the shift pedal and make a small bracket to support the sensors to spot it moving.

I'll see how I get on and update the group later with the results. For $10 it'll probably take 6 months to get here from China.

    Cheers

    i’m interested

Get your confidence back with Aprilia.

caution: the use of motorcycles may be habit forming. side effects include purchasing multiple examples of the same bike, in different states of tune, different years, or different models altogether. some motorcycles may be not running when purchased. some parts are no longer available. there are rare instances where aprilias are bought over the internet and upon arrival, they are not as were originally disclosed. there is a small group of people who cannot handle two stroke engines and motorcycle maintenance. if this is the case, you may not be a candidate for Aprilia RS250's.

Hey does anyone know where the neutral sensor and (more importantly) the Blue sensor wire can be found ? I need to tap that for the sensor, which has arrived in the mail.

Kusti did you mention it's on the primary shaft output ? Alternatively it looks like I could get it from the blue wire on the black connector block of the CDI

    Thanks

    Robert

    Hey,

I use my RS250 for trackdays and Just ordered one from STARLANE called ENGEAR and put it in the wiring loom.
Doesn’t need magnets or so. It keeps RPM and Speed and converts it in the right gear.
Easy to install but needed to program it over because i use downshift (1 up - others down). But even that was easy!

And its also Made in Italy

    Greetings Sam

    Thanks Sam,

I've used some Starlane stuff before and they are good. I have received the unit and it looks ok I just need to work out how & where to mount the sensors. There's no obvious way with the position / arrangement of the pedal & shift rod so I'll need to run a few tests. Will update you all as it progresses.

    Cheers

    Robert
