Damn, it’s as disappointing as a Netflix production or a visit to the Mexican bakery.

while not in the same class of bike, the KTM 1290 Super Adv R weighs 1lb LESS than the FTR 1200, and it's built for offroad abuse, not solely on the road, and it's engine has 160hp.

the guys on the indian forum are all saying "Indian shaved 40bs off the Scout engine" and are impressed...

The exhaust is bad, but that would get replaced anyway.

I like the looks of the bike. I like that Indian actually made it I hope they sell a ton of them.

But, I can't see how it is in any way better than my 11 year old Tuono.

I get a strong feeling about the demographic they're trying to pull in.

Reminds of the Suzuki Boost King concept bike that ended up as the B-King and was a total flop. I was going to buy one but after seeing it I'll keep my wallet closed.

Why can't one of the OEMs do a decent tracker?

    This is what I wanted.

I've seen pics of the production model. Lost quite a bit of the cool kit pieces from the concept, probably to be sold as an R spec or as accessories later.

The biggest customer complaints about the concept 1200cc street bike based on the Indian Flat Track bike was it was originally a Stylized Scout and had a a ridiculous Track Exhaust that was inappropriate for the Street which some called the Thigh Burner Exhaust. Indian/Polaris listened to their customers and addressed two of the major issues that were raised. Its no longer a re-badged worked over Scout but a completely new bike with a new engine and they put a more Street Friendly exhaust on it as their customers requested. Where it goes from here with add-ons and upgrades could get interesting. I think its a good thing that Polaris invested in a totally new design, listened to customer input and did not just take the cheap route of dressing up a Scout.

It may be interesting to see where it goes from here and we start to get ride reports from folks who actually took one out on a street.

I understand that Rocky, and there will be aftermarket exhausts anyways; stock cans never look good. My big complaints are the tail (it looks like the took Ducati's MotoGP styling cue and put whatever they could under it instead of leaving it) and the weight. Power to weight ratio is better than the Scrambler 1100, but Ducati didn't go for power. It weighs a metric fuckton compared to its competition

You can have that bike. The buy in is around $50K US. Pay up or shut up.

Everyone wants a racebike but is unwilling to pay the price. I used to hang a dealer tag on my XR750 and go chase down big sportbikes with it. Couldn't ride it every day.
    oh well nevermind
