Why did you decide not to make the wheels silver?

thanks tora, still a way to go, will be rebuilding the engine over christmas, already stripped just waiting on seals and bearings. will need new top end as put it in the dishwasher and has developed a hairline crack? you forget how many little jobs there are, finish 1 job then discover 3 more ,, its easy stripping the bike when its a wreck cause you cant wait to get the damaged parts off.. trouble is now fitting the new parts

Yes, I still have my RS50. I keep thinking I want something else like a KTM RC390 which is selling very cheaply. But I love riding my little bke and since I don't ride except for fun I think I'll keep it forever.

These things always take forever. If you consciously thought about the entire process you'd never take on one of these projects.

I doubt the dishwasher could get hot enough to cause the crack. More than likely it just exposed what was already there.

Yikes! Bike was in a frightful condition when you got it but it's looking fantastic now that you've lavished it with TLC. Keep up the good work!

Did you use a traditional dry blasting media like silica or did you do vapor blasting or CO2? Looks like a new cylinder is in order. Are you planning to keep it 50cc or will you fit a big bore kit?

was just vapour blasted, the crack was already there just wasnt sure how bad it was but once cleaned up its clear its scrap now. crank was scrap aswell so just deciding what to order this week. may go for an uprated crank and a 70cc airsal kit.

did you manage to find any decals for your 125 project? iv seen some genuine NOS front fairing decals for around $130

Vapor blasting really leaves a wonderful finish on the cases. There arenít many vapor blasting specialists in my part of the country. Iíve sometimes thought about getting into it myself to support the restoration hobby but itís kind of tedious work. I canít tell you how many hours Iíve spent staring into a sand blasting cabinet with ear muffs on as I helped restore several old cars. Also it doesnít pay well enough to allow me to give up my current career. But one day when Iím semi-retired Iíd love to find a way to get into the business doing something along those lines. Ideally helping rich collectors curate their vehicle collections!

Iím still working on it. So far Iíve had mixed results with aftermarket decal kits. My $150 decal kit from Adhesivos Replica was no better than the $50 decal kit I got from eBay seller motographicslt despite me providing tons of detailed photos, measurements, etc. and waiting many weeks for him to design and print them. Then he went silent when I offered constructive feedback, thus guaranteeing I wonít be a repeat customer.

On the Aprilia RS125 UK Facebook group a member named Tom Vickers recommended eBay seller sticker-spot for decals. Heís doing a 2000 black/red Tetsuya Harada restoration and has given positive feedback about his aftermarket decal kit. I need the same decals but in the Nik Grey/ Lemon Yellow color scheme.
