My new RSV Mille - random thoughts...

Hi all, Iím back on an Aprilia! My last one before this was an unreal Tuono Mk 1 in silver, which I had a couple of years ago. Sold that to get back into racing on a 2000 R1, which kept my MV Agusta F4 company.

I then sold the R1 and bought a rough KTM Superduke SDR - th3 second Ďfull fatí one Iíve owned. After much fettling, a homemade airbox, a lot of cleaning and a set of very loud MIVVs, it was as close to perfect as a Superduke can get. I used it as a track day bike and fricken loved it.

I advertised it on a whim and sold it in 24 hours for a huge profit. And so the hunt for another Aprilia began.

I found this one owner 2000 km away, liaised with the owner and had it sent down. Much cleaning and fiddling and Iím so in love with my Aprilia!

Iím currently running 16/42 gearing, and Iíve just ordered a 44 tooth rear. One of the great things about the Superduke was itís earth turning torque - it felt like it was ripping the bitumen out of the road. This was achieved with 17/40 gearing (rear was originally a 38). Changing the gearing of the Aprilia to 16/44 brings it remarkably close to the speed in gears etc of the Superduke - which I loved.

Having much, much better fuelling than the Superduke with similar gearing and almost as much power and torque will make the RSV my track, commute, hills and do everything perfect bike!

Despite the Aprilia having a more committed riding position, the butter smooth fuelling makes it an easier town bike than the Superduke, and with similar gearing coming soon, itíll pull cracking wheelies almost as well. Canít wait!
