    Bats Aprilia RS50 D'oro

Another Bats Project Aprilia RS50! This will be the first Bats bike to be built around the TP 85 Cast Iron kit!

This 2005 Aprilia RS50 has been in the Bats Stable for years and has the Top Performance 75cc red (rose) kit matched to a 21mm Del orto carburetor matched with a V-force reed cage. The suspension has been upgraded with a suspension worx rear shock while the brakes have been upgraded with steel braided lines. The name D'oro meaning gold in Italian comes from the gold wheels and gold Ergal "Jewelry".

    What's to come.
85CC Top performance with Stroker crank
    Change bearings and seals
    Fix rear brake seals

    Stay tuned.

    Some updates from last weekend:

Installed the new Apollo radiator, It's a direct swap.
Installed the Gasket on the carburetor

Rode a quick 10 mile ride to see if the radiator made a difference. Before i was running about the middle of the of the temp guage, after with the apollo radiator i was just above 1/4 for most of the ride.

Still have to fix the rear brake.

    Carb fix

    Old radiator

    looking good after the ride

Your radiator is on the way!

The New 85 kit has soooo much more mid range torque than the "rose" kit. It will be interesting to try with my nickel plated Jolly Moto when project "Ocho Cinco" gets going!

The 85 kit comes with a stroker crank. Heres a few pics of the crank from the kit which I happened to open and install today into Ocho Cinco's motor!

Here's a look at the larger Flywheel size and the included larger size main bearing. This is a complete kit and also includes an offset woodruff key to adjust timing for the longer stroke!

    Nice.
I'm a BIG fan of the 20mm main bearings, would prefer them on both sides, but flywheel side is okay too.
My Doppler crank is similar, with the larger bearing on the fw side... I'll be looking for a 20mm on both sides with my next crank replacement.

That first start we just warmed it up to the start of blue indicator 2500 rpm or less. Let it cool down overnight and the next day warmed it up to the middle of blue indicator using steady build of rpm idle as it heats up, less than 4K Rpms. Again waited until completely cold then warm up to blue and put around on the bike lower than 8k rpm, until temp reached first grey area. After 3 heat cycles it was ready to ride, progressively taking the rpm higher each ride along with temp. We have taken out for a top speed run, can see a glimpse on our intro, and it runs great!
