    Fuel light/ Fuel level issue (2011 TV4)

    Hey guys.

An issue has popped up now where my fuel light will constantly be on saying that I am running on reserve or intermittently come on and start counting km's on reserve. Even after filling the tank right to the brim. Only happened occasionally but has gotten to a point where its on more time than its not.

Is there a process I can go through to get to the fuel level sensor(?) to determine if its faulty or just needs to be cleaned or something? Can this be done by me, a person with average skill, or does it need to be done by a dealer?

My other option is to just leave it for a month or so until I take it in to the dealer for the first valve check and have them sort it out and possibly add another cost to the service.

The bike is on 16,5k kms

    Thanks!

The whole fuel pump/fuel filter and fuel level assembly is one piece and can be removed from the fuel tank.
No idea on how to check the fuel level sensor though.
In no way affiliated to that helmet company by the same name....

My 2012 RSV4 is doing something kind of similar; it comes on too early. From a full tank, the light will come on after 32 miles. The fuel pump indeed has a separate component attached to it that is the level sensor. I haven't checked the Tuono diagram for the fuel pump but would presume it is the same. With a multimeter, the device can probably be checked. I'm going to check into it but it'll take me some time. I haven't worked with aprilia's fuel pumps before.

If a new one is the answer, the part is visible in the diagram and is about 107 US dollars.

Shouldn't be too hard to change the sensor, see pic of pump below, sensor is clearly accessible.

    Thanks for the help guys.

My bike is currently at the dealer having the valves done. The stator or rectifier also seems to be shot as the battery isn't charging correctly. So that's fun. Then he will get on to taking a look at the fuel level sensor.

Looks like I will be without my bike for quite some time...

So looks like my rectifier died.

Would I be able to replace it with this one?

Is super cheap but will it work?

I'd worry about how "used" is it and what guarantee do you have that one is any good? I just looked on AF1 and a rectifier 12V 5 pole from them is only $30.50. I am a little confused though. AF1 lists this part separately from a voltage regulator which they also list but for $150ish. Personally, I'd have an issue skimping on this part as the labor to replace it again will easily eat up the difference in cost.

I just visited the dealer that is working my bike we came to the conclusion that it is in fact the stator and fly wheel and not the rectifier....

    My engine number is V411781

Which set would I need to replace it with?

theres only one part for it.. your model of stator and flywheel is a Kokusan and NOT a Miitsibishi... the kokusan is an updated stator and flywheel.. you need to install BOTH.. not just the stator.. if your dealer tries to tell you that you only need the stator and keep your present flywheel, tell him to go screw himself.. you need BOTH.. and need a puller to remove that flywheel.. which he must have.. or buy one..

Ok great thanks for the info.

Yes he has the puller and advised to get both. I just spoke incorrectly.

Is this the correct one to get?

I’m sure JG has the right puller but I do have the correct one just in case. Suggest you order from AF1 as Cayenne won’t and don’t ever have anything in stock so you’ll wait forever... as we usually do here
