Have you read good things about their batteries? Heard that there was a lot of conglomeration in the battery business, mainly china!

    Like Odessy batteries

Let me just say I haven't heard any bad things about them. Batteries can be a bit of crap shoot...period.

I'm using a Shorai . Had it in there only a couple months though. They claim 270 CCA. Certainly turns over my Mille without any problems!

Same here, have the Battery Tender 240 cca version in 3 bikes now. When I put the first one in my zx14 my friends all thought I was nuts until it fired up that big 4 instantly. The only one I have to put on a battery tender is the ape, fucker seems to eat electricity.

Yes, about every two weeks I put it on the tender to top it off, takes 12min. If I fail to remember, it takes over an hour to top off, so the bike sucks juice just sitting.

I don't leave on tender all the time, I want the first start on a ride to be proof that the battery is functioning properly, and I'd rather have it quit in my garage rather than out on the road. Learned this the hard way. Also I had one fail in "full charge all the time" mode.

Earthx 24c lithium iron phosphate battery has been on the Falco for 2 1/2 years. Starts on the button and not a single no start, tested as low of 5 degrees celcius. Doesn't need to be hooked up to a battery charger or anything. Have an upgraded strater system with 100amp yam relay, motoelectric cables and mosfet rectifier hooked up directly to the battery. Battery weighs about 1100 grams, almost 3.5 kg lighter than AGM battery.

I use a yuasa with no complaints.

imho the wiring mod is essential on these bikes. I used to rely on always using the trickle charger and I still went through 2 batteries in 2 years.
With the wiring mod done, my bike starts on the button. When I do put it on the charger, it's always topped up after 2 minutes...used to take a lot longer.
I don't miss that horrific spag sound either.

I came from a 2005 Triumph Speed Triple that went through 1 stator, 2 R/R's and at least 3 batteries that I know of in its 4-owner history so I totally get the bad battery tendencies in some bikes. My ape lives outdoors and I only charge it occasionally. I've found that any new battery combined with a higher spec 150A Yamaha starter makes the bike start much more enthusiastically. I'd like to spring for a nicer Li-Ion battery for the weight savings, but for now I've got a standard lead acid battery in there with no issues.

Bought the battery tender lithium Iron battery recommended by barry sheen and other's at Summit racing for $109 and free shipping wondering if the battery tender Jr will work on that battery or do you need a smart charger?
