Are you riding your machine to the track or trailering it there? Wish I could join y'all. Looks like fun. We have a kart track about 1.5 hours away from where I live called Sandy Hook that's pretty active with the mini moto scene. But most of the bikes are motards or Kayo MR125 4-strokes and my RS50 is too nice to subject to track use. I'd love a Honda RS125 with a Honda CR80 motor swap (to be MD Mini Moto class legal) but I'm about 12" too tall and about 150lbs heavier than the ideal rider size.

Life at the Track in 2018

MT Mike and Minoru out at Sonoma, with Mike's GPR in the background.

We haul the bikes to the track. For the most part people have dedicated track bikes that are not street legal.

Typically at Sonoma there are a number of motard riders with their 450cc 4T engines—very loud and harsh sounding. It's interesting that the mini motos are on the throttle coming out of the corners way before the motards. But with 450cc on a kart track they can wait and wait and wait before they wack the throttle at the end of the corner, and just power wheelie down the next straight. In general I kind of prefer it when the motards are in their own session. The lines they take etc. are rather incompatible with people riding GP lines (like the mini motos). Even pocket bikes take better lines than the motards.

MT Mike has a Honda RS80 like you described. He also has a GPR track bike that I helped him put together. He has said that the Derbi is more fun to ride.

There are things you can do with the Hondas to make them more accommodating for the typical American body types. Mike has his set up with the seat raised, and the rear sets adjusted to provide more room.

I don't think I've ever seen any Kayos out at Sonoma. They do show up at the Stockton track partially because the track manager sells them. There is a Kayo race series which runs out at Stockton, and a few outer local-ish tracks. There are two classes for them—kids, and over weight adults. Although it's suppose to be a spec class people spend a lot of money on those specs allowing the kid's with well off parents to have a significant advantage. However, even if you spend a ton of money on the Kayo replacing pretty much everything on the bike it still wont compare to say a MetraKit, and wont even come close to an RMU. But for an inexpensive entry level bike they offer quite a lot of bike for a small amount of money.

A very popular platform these days is to take a 65cc dirt bike and convert it to mini moto. This provides all the power you need for a kart track (although obviously some folks get greedy and run 85cc or larger), they crash really well (great for running drills), are in expensive (relatively), and are fairly easy to set up for the track. I have a 65cc Cobra that I picked up for this reason. Hopefully I'll have the resources to get it on the track this season.
