    Ducati 998

Anyone ever own a 998 before? What’s your thoughts or things to look out for. I have a 2001 monster 900 but love the looks of 916/996/998. Figure in 15-20 years they will be maybe a collectible. Heard the prices have bottomed out on them and have begun to rise a bit.

There looks to be a very nice one near you. Saved this one the other day. Close to market correct price IMO.

The testa engine is superior in every way I can think of over the desmoquattro.

998 is not the best-looking of the 916 family, but close to the top IMO (the early graphics of the '95-97 do it for me personally).

Yep looking at that one possibly. Hence why I was asking.

It sounds obvious, but one thing I have found is good bikes still sell fast on CL unless the seller is a complete lunatic.

That one looks nice, I wouldn't procrastinate going to see it.

There was a very nice '93 CBR900RR a couple of hours from me a few weeks ago, posted in the middle of the week. I happened to see it that night, and immediately made plans to take the next day off (Thursday IIRC) and probably buy it. When I heard back from the seller, there were already three guys in line in front of me. So I didn't bother, one of them would have bought it for full price. It was gone by lunch the next day.

On Labor Day weekend last year I saw my old 999 I regretted selling in 2010, newly listed. Contacted the guy, he had sold it within a couple of hours the night before. Tracked down the lady that bought it and bought it from her the next day. She made $500 for owning it less than 36 hours, and I was the first and now am the fifth owner of that bike.

    Good luck on the search!

Thanks for the help I ended up picking it up. It’s very clean for her age and figured wouldn’t find another one like her. She needs a little work to get it up to my OCD standards but will be a nice small project to work on.
