You know a guy has racing in his blood when....

One of my racer customers calls me up today at lunch time and asks if I have a new clutch pack and a gasket for his RSV4 race bike.
I said I do, so he says I'm at Chuckwalla and I'm heading to the airport, can you bring the parts to Santa Ana airport and meet me @2:00 PM?

The guy is a pilot, so he rents a plane flies 250 miles to meet me for the parts, flies back to the race track just in time for his mechanic to install the clutch and makes the Formula Open race.
He missed the warm up lap so has to start from the back of the grid, diced his way thru the 20 rider field and finishes on the podium in 3rd place.

I'd say that dude loves to race.

If you look at his bike, you will see that there is no extra money spent on it.

Not only that, but "too much money to spend" doesn't make a rider any faster.
He just happens to have a real job as a commercial pilot, and as with any job there are perks.

I was there and I know who you are talking about. That dude is no joke, pretty sure he broke The Shootout lap record on Sunday. Not proud of it, but also not that embarrassed that this guy lapped me in that race.

Steve is a pleasure to work with, not to mention a very talented rider with many years experience.
He pushes the bike to it's limit but not to the breaking point.

The feedback and testing I get from him is Golden.

Wait - you're talking about Steve Rapp! Ya, very fast and talented rider. He raced the AMA series on Harleys a few years back and was a blast to watch.

When you can score points in a MotoGP race (as he did, finishing one place behind Colin Edwards), you're better, and a helluva lot more committed, than the average "national" racer.

Well done that man....... awesome !!
