Clan Capo 2018 Eilean Siar & The Sea Kingdom

Clan Capo 2018 Eilean Siar & The Sea Kingdom

    Monday 11th - Saturday 16th June 2018

Mainly a trip to a handful of the Isles. Our progress is very much dictated by the ferry sailings. Some leisurely days and others not quite so much. We must plan to camp as not all the accommodation can be booked. We will have use of the facilities, but no guarantee of a bed. Fingers crossed we can use the hostels each night.

    Mon 11th

Depart Tesco Extra, Cuckoo Bridge, Dumfries at 0830hrs. 24 hour Tesco, Costa coffee and fuel available.

Ride north on A76 to Kilmarnock then the A77 to Glasgow. Follow the A82 towards Loch Lomond, Glencoe and on to Invermoriston by Loch Ness. Then follow A87 Road to the Isles. Onto Skye and keep on A87 through Portree and all the way to Uig where we catch our first ferry. This is about 320 miles in ten hours, we will stop whenever/wherever you guys dictate for coffee etc.

    FERRY depart Uig 1830 – arrive Lochmaddy 2030hrs. £21.75

Wee ride to Gatliff black house hostel at Berneray. We cannot book this hostel, if no beds available, tent pitches available with access to all other facilities. This is a remote location, you will need food and drink etc but full kitchen and tables etc on site.

    Tue 12th

Spend a leisurely day exploring the Uists, Eriskay and Benbecula etc.

Back to the same bunk house on Berneray for the evening.

    Wed 13th

    FERRY depart Berneray 1000 – arrive Leverburgh 1100hrs. £10.40

Spend afternoon exploring Harris and Lewis.

Accomodation at Fairhaven hostel in Stornoway (booked). Night on the town.

    Thu 14th

    Ride back down to Tarbert.

    FERRY depart Tarbert 1140 – Arrive Uig 1320hrs. £21.75

Out of Uig and ride over Quaraing then down east coast of Skye. Down to Broadford and head for next ferry at Armadale.

    FERRY depart Armadale 1715 – arrive Mallaig 1800hrs £7.75

From Mallaig head along A830 to Glenfinnan. Then we will take the A861 Kingairloch road to Strontian. Staying at the Ariundle Centre (booked) on edge of village.

    Fri 15th

From Strontian ride down A884 to Lochaline and catch 0940hrs ferry to Fishnish on Mull (ferry is turn up and ride on £6 each way).

Another leisurely day, riding round Mull. If anyone wants to take the boat trip to Fingals Cave, I can make enquiries.

    http://www.staffatours.com/boat-tour...a/staffa-tour/

Ferry at 1900hrs from Fishnish to Lochaline and back to Strontian for another night in the Ariundle Centre.

    Sat 16th

    Ride home.

Strontian to Inversanda and catch Corran ferry (turn up ride on, couple of £’s fare)

Route home TBC as you guys wish to do. Possibly run out to Ardnamurchan point before we head home.

Depending on the weather, as we have done in the past – some alterations can be made to plans at SOME stages of trip. We are very much hostage to the ferries.

FOUR FERRIES NEED BOOKED. DO IT NOW AS THERE ARE ONLY 12 PLACES FOR BIKES MAX.

Not set in stone. Pillions welcome. Caponords welcome (rarer than unicorn poop these days). Suggestions welcome (but may be ignored).

Well, "Billy Big Bollocks" at work has decided against giving me the holidays that i wanted so it looks as if i'm fooked, so far!
Even though that week is spare, he wants to offer it to the new starters first, wanker that he is! Fingers crossed no-one takes it.
I really wanted to do this trip too, as last time it headed over to the Outer Isles old el Capo gave up the ghost and i was unable to get there.
So, i'm just having to wait and see what happens. ARSE!!!

If i can't get that week then i'll probably take a week out later on and do the Normandy beaches and the Submarine pens at La Rochelle. I've always fancied that.

    Cheers Daz,
I'm still hopeful of getting away with it, but it would be useful to have a backup plan.
Any info on Normandy would be great, as I said earlier. its one of the places i really feel the need to go to.
