Shiver New Spare key coding problem

Hi, After recently losing my 2012 Shiver's spare key in a fire I purchased a new blank from my Aprilia dealer, got it cut and then took it back to the dealer for them to code it to my bike.
Then the problem started , when they inserted the uncoded key in the ignition the dash display asked for a 5 digit code to be entered. This is the owners code and was set by the original owner of the bike when he first bought it .... I bought it from him 18 months ago.
I rang the guy and asked him what the code was but he says he carnt remember.
The Dealer says without that code they carnt get into the bikes security system and therefore carnt recode my new key.

Does anyone know a way of resetting the code to factory settings which I believe are 00000 or any other way I can get round this ?

    Thanks

The original owner might not have changed it from the factory default....

but I am guessing you already tried that....

The previous owner of my bike hadn't set up the owner code. Deciding to make the bike a bit more secure, for me the first thing after changing the code was to write it down in the owners manual, AND in indelible marker in a normally inaccessible, non-visible location ON the bike. Should be common sense!!
AND at the very least the firmware should have a question , before it changes the code, like "Have you recorded the new code? Y/N " Not fool-proof, but would certainly help with these kind of issues!
