Oil with gas - Vespa GT 200 2003

    Hi Guys|

Does anyone have problems with the Vespa GT 200 2003 (carburetor) oil level? I replace the oil some weeks ago and every week I check the oil level and was ok, but today the level increase (!!!??!!!), the oil have a strange smell, it seems gasoline and the oil viscosity looks like "kitchen oil". does anyone have similar problems? Or suggestions to fix?

    Help please!

yeah its a usual problem with the carburetor that runs to rich or the choke is open so the engine overflows the engine and some ends up in the oil sump

VERY common is a failure of the fuel tank petcock which allows fuel to drain into carb while parked, then into intake, down into motor/oil.

Ok thanks for the answers! I will check the fuel cock, float level, CO concentration.
I see in other forums that can be also a thermostat failure, can be possible or anyone have experience with this?

in any engine a thermostat can fail
but its easy to notice if he is stuck open the engine wont have a constant temperature and the time to bring the engine to the operating temp will be longer then usual or the engine will have a stuck closed thermostat and you can have the engine constantly overheating

Easy check for petcock...remove fuel line from petcock on right side rear of scooter at lowest point on fuel tank...if it drips out of the petcock then you have a problem.

I think the cock is ok, because some km ago the engine had a very hard starting caused by the cock, was easy to check because before removing the gas line in carburettor the gasoline dropped. Now my bike have 55k km and never had similar problems. But now the bike will be stooped and I will ckeck the problem and I will keep the forum informed for the solution!
