Thinking of buying a 95 Laverda 650 Sport Kevlar

Like the title says i am looking into buying a 95 Laverda 650 Sport Kevlar. Does anyone have any experience with one? any suggestions or opinions? It looks to be in good condition, with 2,000 miles on a rebuilt motor. Owned and ridden by an older man, who is selling because he got a 750.
He is letting it go for about 2,000 USD.
    should i do it?

I never heard of a "Kevlar".
    They did make a 650.
    I had the 1999 750.
Did the motor rebuild include crank bearings??????
There is a guy from Estonia on Laverdaforum.com that replaced his crank bearings himself and did a good job too.

If you have the crank gremlins banished then it's a great machine. You can drag your elbows on that bike.

Almost bought one a few years ago, found it on Cycletrader. Beautiful bikes.

i guess the fairings are made out of kevlar on it. Number plate is 398.

There is some info on the "kevlar" series.

Seems like a neat bike and would be fun, while i am away from my Aprilia's for the next few years. Trying to find a bike for 2k USD or under, to occupy me for my stay in Germany for the next few years. Can't afford to spend much more so my options are pretty limited.

I did ask the owner, in an email, what was replaced during the rebuild. waiting for a reply. I think this bike is going to be hard to beat for bang for the buck. I was also looking into a 91 Kawasaki ZXR400 (yes the one with hoover intake pipes).

I wouldn't mind getting another Zane twin but I would get the crank bearings corrected!!
I bought the first of two silver/orange 750s in the SF Bay. And I got PISSED when I met the "other" silver/orange owner.
I had been The ONLY one.

    Yes, I am Quite Special.

i LOVE the look of those orange and silver 750's. I don't know what it is, but orange Laverda's just do it for me.

Well, still have not heard back from the owner....maybe it's my poor German. I am looking into 2 Yamaha TRX 850's as well.

    I like those TRX's.
Personally I would go with that over tha Lav if it's going to be more than just a toy.
TRX would also have more oomph for the autobahn.

Unfortunately this is a good suggestion.
Unless gts455 is as dedicated to very rare and exotic machines as I am

I'd be happy with either. No reply from the Laverda. Got a reply for the TRX. has 29,000 miles no issues, ready to ride with ohlins setup. Asking 3000 USD.
