SC300 Died - No Start and Warning Light Illuminated

    All,

SC300 died on the way back from running some errands this afternoon. Engine Oil Pressure / EI Control Warning light is illuminated, voltage is fine, but won't fire/turn over. Cursory check of plugs / connections etc. all seemed OK. Of course my 1yr warranty expired at the end of last month. Is there anyway to look at error codes without the Axone tool?

    Thanks,

You say it won't fire/turn over so I am confused a bit. Are you saying the the starter does not crank the bike at all (does not turn over) or the bike does crank on the starter (turns over) but is not getting any spark? Could be a blown fuse or a faulty brake switch or a defective starter.

    More details please.

Is the oil level too low? ...it won't start if it is.

Thanks all for the quick replies. Sorry for the confusion - the starter doesn't crank the bike at all. Oil level is fine but I didn't receive any recall notice from my dealer regarding the fuel pump.

    Thanks

Lets start with the obvious that just about everyone here has overlooked from time to time, myself included. Is the engine kill switch flipped to the kill position?

    Check for spark
If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.

the cap for the spark plug may be loose and not touching. It is a common problem with SC250, but easy fix.

Thanks - was away all week for business so haven't had a chance to do any further investigation / troubleshooting. I may call the dealer (its about 100km away) and see if they can walk through any basic checks over the phone...

    Thanks,

    All,

Dealer couldn't provide much help over the phone (indicated they would need to run the AXONE tool/diagnostic software). I remembered that I have the gold CAA membership which includes 200km distance for a tow - so the bike was put on a flat bed to the dealer last night.

Running my VIN, the dealer did indicated that the fuel pump recall affected my bike, so that is the 1st thing they will do.

    More to come.

Hopefully it is just a simple safety switch or faulty fuse holding you back.

    Thanks,
I just had this problem with my 200. The wiring harness popped off the kill switch. You can take the plastic off to the left of the throttle (two philips screws) and push it back on. My dealer told me this is a super common problem.

    Good luck.

Yes the EFI pump wont have any cranking effect at all With no crank Some type of Switch isnt doing its job or such and yer locked out of starting even w an efi bike or if your transponder is not talking to the bike? why I hate going to dealer type setup youre likely to never find out exactly
