    Adding strobe lights

I have a Mana (non-GT) with the Puig Windscreen. I'd like to add strobe lights to the bike for the rare occasion I need to draw attention to myself. Because I wouldn't be using them very often, I'd like them to not stand out too bad. I'm trying to avoid mounting a dash light as they are not usually weather resistant. Anyone got any suggestions?

    Strobes?????

Be carefull not to run afoul of your state DMV laws. Stobes are regulated in most state laws as strictly for emergency vehicles. Some states don'e even allow fog lights behind grills!

The only flashing lights that are allowed on non-emergency mc's are modulating headlights. I use them and they work great. With modulating headlights they have to have a light sensor that automaticly switches them off when the light level falls to a set level.

I run them on my duck and I use to run them on my trike. People get out of your way when they flash! I like them and they are legal in all 50 states because of a federal law.

Good find...thanks. I've sent an email to the guy asking about other colors that aren't listed on the site. Not a bad price for what's offered. The system is essentially 3 parts: lights, flasher, switch. The problem is finding a flasher small enough to place on the Mana since most are made to fit in a car. I did find a different possibility. The flasher doesn't have a cable running to the switch. It's got a keyfob remote. I like the setup with one exception. The flasher and remote (switch) runs $60. And the LED lights run $50 each. If I can get the desired color, it would be $45 as compared to $160. (I only need the front, the back would be a bonus.)

Eh...thanks for the warning but I think I'll be alright.

The city likes to shot down streets all the time for stuff like parades, Sugar Bowls, festivals. We put lights in our personal cars for various reason. One of which is to tell the person at the barricade that we need to get through. So while I don't "need" strobes, they just make it easier.

Since you are talking about ocassional use for an escort vehicle such as when construction companies have a wide load or there is a group of runners on a public street consider some of these options.

There are some $29 options also such as the model that straps on to your handlebars with velcro and uses double A batteries.

Wolo makes some rotating beacons in the $26 dollar range that plug into the accessory outlet and require no hard wireing. These could be placed on your top case or on a removable post mount on your luggage rack.
