    Alternative coils

Ok, I know there is a lot posted on coils etc but as it's such a great place of information on here I thought I'd post up on these alternative coils I've found. I need a new one and will be looking at getting it from here

    http://www.eurocarparts.com/

last time I looked they were 22. they need a little bit of tweaking by cutting off the mounting point but thats it.

    Part No. 413745171

    Or from here

    http://uk.ebid.net/for-sale/ignition...a-25891197.htm

And of course there are others including the oem from our hosts. Just thought I'd add some more choices for those of us that need them. I'm aware others have used different ones again. Your choice at the end of the day. HTH

so how often do coils go bad anyway?

I don't think I've ever had a coil go bad in anything I've every owned

my bike will be 10 years old this year and as far as I know all the coils are fine, yet it seems to be a frequent topic of discussion on the board
Mods:rectifier replacement, soldered wires, derestricted airbox, QDC replacement with metal one, capped holes on fuel plate, basically just the standard stuff we have to do to be safe and keep them running well

Well some guys go for years without any problems, others like me have a few problems. I'm on my second Futura, my last one was written off by a old git that shouldn't have been on the road. I had no problems coil wise with that bike after having it for a few years. This bike I've had less than a year and I had a coil problem, both my bikes are 2001 models. Coils are in my opinion like oil, tyres etc one of those subjects that us bikers like to discuss. So to answer your question of does it happen commonly on this bike , no I don't think it does, but when it does they are not cheap as an oem part so we like to look for after market and if we find any we post up to inform others. The ones I have posted up on I have not used. I'm currently running on a borrowed coil that I will replace with one of the citreon ones. Martdude has other ones on his bike that are a straight fit, no hassle but they are priced dearer, and I want to pay as little as possible at the moment as it's getting close to a set of new tyres time. front definately but I fancy a change.

Guys just a quick update here. I have just picked up the coil from euro parts. My original post with the part number was wrong. I apologise. I have corrected the original post.

    Cost of the coil 24.60.
