    Acquiring SR50 Ditech Replacement Keys.

I finally found out if my scooter was a Ditech model or not... It is. Now, the issue becomes finding a replacement key with a transponder. The next question is how to program such a key for my bike.

This is, of course, assuming that this is possible, which I certainly am hoping is the case. So what recourses do I have for replacing a lost Ditech model key?

    Thanks in advance.

Post the VIN and I can tell you if you need a transponder or not.

Also, where in the US are you located?

Oh boy... OK, the Transponder equipped key blank is available from AF1 for $50.00.

Programing it is, and will be, dependent on if you have access to the Digi-dash's programming features. In other words, when you get the key cut to work on your scoot, you have to be able to get to the Digi-das's programming area... That is done one of 3 actually even 4 ways.

    1. You have a original working key,
    2. You have the Customer Entered Code to access the bike,
    3. The previous owner never entered a code and as such, you may/should have access to the programming part of the Dash,
    4. And this is a bit more costly, you purchase a whole new Digi-Dash and install it. It will then be as if you just picked up the bike from the Dealer brands new.

There is also another way, but I'll let the member that knows about that and could help you out add to this Thread...

I am not aware of there being key codes or records of the keys on file, if you have no key to be able to copy (even one without a transponder), then you may need to buy a complete lockset, which comes with all 3 locks and 2 keys with the transponder in them.

then to program the keys or be able to start the bike you will need to know the user code that was set on your bike, if you don't know it, you will need a new digidash assembly.

I can reset the code in the digidash without resetting the mileage, but every time I have offered to do it, as soon as I ask the owner to prove ownership of the bike they disappear.

    The VIN is ZD4RLC1013S001976.

Also, I feel retarded but, Digidash?

I don't have an original working key. How can I get the new one cut to my bike?

    I feel so helpless. Hahaha

EDIT: @techrat1: Where do I buy such parts? My Google searches are thus far fruitless.

I believe you have an `03, and if so, no Digidash.

ok, if you have the older ditech with analog gauges (2004 and older), then you don't have the digidash, and you don't have transponder keys.

I don't think new keys are available, possibly a locksmith could make some if you brought one of your locks (by disassembly and measurement)
Or you could buy a new lock set with keys from AF1 (click shop online at the top of the page here)

no programming or codes needed on the older ditechs

@TiminIndy and @DJ GT-S: I do not have the title. Here's the long story.

The bike belongs to one of my close friends. We were planning to trade for the bike, so in his absence I am attempting to get the title straightened out. The title was lost when he got it, which in his state was not an issue because you did not have to have the title to drive it. When he moved here [Tennessee,] he could no longer drive it without a title. We got the replacement title form and are about to file it. In the meantime, somehow between the move from his state to Tennessee, he lost the key. That's why we don't have the key, and don't have the title. Still, I know the guy very well and I know that he's being honest with me. It's not like I'm dealing with a random guy out of a classified ad.

Also, yes, I have analog gauges. If that means no transponder, that makes me very happy. VERY happy.

EDIT: I cannot access the store. It seems to be broken.

The store is back up. I think I found the key blank for my bike. Is this it?

Well, since you don't have an immobilizer, it looks like it is the right one… You can always give AF1 a call and they can confirm it for you too!

Alright. Now, when looking in the online store, I couldn't find a new lock set to replace the keyless one. The bike has a locking compartment above the battery - will that lock be the same as the ignition? If so, I can just take that panel to the locksmith and try to have the key made.

Then, I only have to wait for the government to issue the replacement title. At that point, I will experience a vast improvement over 14 miles per gallon in my current vehicle. What is a general estimate for the fuel economy of a 2003 Aprilia scooter?
