Well, the verdict is in: failed microprocessor on the board, not repairable.

Time to start thinking about Futura dash alternatives....

Evening,, I'm having random Dashboard issues. Any updates on the issue is greatly appreciated.
Other than a complete remodeling of the dash/ clock assembly which seems extremely expensive,
as is the unrepairable original dash?
Is this a moot point for our Futura's? And a cause for their demise?
    Just too many unanswered questions.
    Like the UFO phenomenon.
Someone obviously knows something??? Anyone. Micah??

The total replacement of the dash isn’t that expensive; the Koso unit I used is better quality than the original and $300.00. Pretty much the only functionality I lost was the sidestand indicator. But it can be hours of install time, and the installation is only as good looking as the installer is creative.

    There’s some info here:

    https://www.apriliaforum.com/forums/showthread.php?343312-Replacing-the-stock-instrument-cluster/

I still haven’t made the back piece of foam to make it pretty, and I also need to replace the engine tem sensor to make the temps read right. That sensor came with the speedo, but I haven’t had time to put it in. There are a lot of other Koso speedos too, you can check out the variety at www.koso.com.tw.

All in all, it took a few hundred dollars and several hours, once I’m done. It’s easier to read than the stocker, and I have more space on my desk for something like a gps. I wouldn’t go replacing it just for the hell of it, but a good option over trying to fix a broken stock unit.

    Thanks Sam.
I checked the link you provided and the install looks good.
I found the Koso unit you used
(RX2; item#BA010001) on a Amazon today for $294.48us. Not a bad price imho.
Please note: I have every intention of doing everything possible to the dash in hopes of resolving the issues everyone is having.
    The replacement/upgrade gauges is
"a last ditch effort" when all else fails.
I hope it never goes that far. Praying for a simple resolution.
I'm not trying to save the bike as a restoration project,, my goal is to make it completely reliable. It has several previous owner updates to various systems that needed attention and I'm in the process of evaluating what exactly has been done and what still needs attention. You understand what I mean.
Thank you and keep the faith. G.
