The story on the blue tank is as follows from the seller:

"The previous owner had an issue with a leaky fuel tank where the fuel pump is. So he bought another one. The only one available in the dealer at that time was a blue one."

That's how he bought it from the OO and the original red tank was not included in the sale.

    fuck me.
just got this from the shipper of the '92 'Blade supposedly en route from Cape Town:

    Dear Mattew

Please be advised that Seabrook stopped all operations, please be so kind to pick up
yr bike, Seabrook will go in liquidation

    Regards

    Frank

seller (top notch stand up feller) is working to get it picked up tomorrow prior to getting tied up in liquidation. hopefully it's not there and already on a boat as reported. or still in their shop covered in dust with no marks or defects.

    what a cluster.
Seabrook Cargo Services and/or Seabrook F&H (Forwarding and Holding) were not onsite at their headquarters today.
All locked up with nobody in the offices and sign of a hurried exit.
The seller (who was fully paid over 4 months ago) sent an export agent from another company to secure the bike.
He could see it through the window but not gain access.
He was not alone onsite as news has spread of the South African branch of this 30+ year old company folding.
Lots of folk clamoring for their vehicles before they likely wind up tied up in legal liquidation process.

in the meantime, as stated previously a first year 'Busa has been on the wish list for awhile and i picked this one up for cheap on eBay.
really prefer the other two colors especially the originally hideous salmon/copper combo that defines these iconic megabikes.
but hey, this one's original owner, original chain and sprockets, no visible defects, original exhaust included and just five-ish hours away in Detroit.
just need to find time to go get it then a place to stuff it.

Never been a busa fan, but it does belong in your collection, and that looks to be a fine specimen.

good news from Cape Town today: seller (who turns out to be Tech Editor for CAR magazine in SA) got another export broker onsite to grab the bike.
appears somehow the garages to the storage area of Seabrook magicly opened without help from their absent staff so that paying customer-to-be vehicles could be liberated.
keys were still in the Blade so anybody coulda helped himself but it's now in safe hands.

bad news from Cape Town today: none of the registration or title documents for any of the vehicles could be found onsite.
guess it's way easier to move paper than metal.

good news from Cape Town today: bike is still in seller's name so he can file as owner to replace the missing docs.

more good news from Cape town today: seller has graciously offered to pay $600 (which is like $2 million in their currency) toward getting the bike to USA. and invited us to come visit and quaff a brew or two together as well as provide suggestions on where to go and stay while in country. my parents have traveled all over the world and state that Cape Town is their fave of all places and we've never been but would love to visit Africa
