Top Speed and Acceleration for the Mana 850

Im considering purchasing the new Aprilia Mana 850, and was curious if anyone knew or had taken the Mana to its top speed ?

Anyone know how the acceleration compares to sportbikes, nakeds, etc..?
    Any redlight stories?

Im really looking forward to a demo ride so I can see for myself....

118 mph, verified by Magellan GPS on two runs. The rev limiter kills the fun at exactly 118 mph, trust me on this one. Speedo, while pretty accurate up to 60mph says 130 mph, but 118 is the real number.

This bike is so fun riding back rodes 60-70 mph (test ride), I didn't even think about a speed limiter. I'll always have the Fut if I wanna go faster anyhow.

The Mana is deceptively fast. It doesn't jerk your arms out, but once it's going, the engine stays in the sweet spot. It doesn't have the pauses in acceleration that come with shifting a traditional bike.

I usually ride mine fairly sedately in 'Touring' mode but if you choose to stick it in 'Sport' Drive or gear and wind it open the horizon will come towards you acceptably quickly. Not the 'Hang-on-for-grim-death' suck the seat cover up yer arse, front end in the air type fast but more than quick enough to upset people who don't expect it.

I managed to out-drag a CBR 600 away from the lights in Queanbeyan the other day until he got his act together and wound it out rather than changing gear at 5,500RPM. I don't think he was used to that though as he looked all sweaty and ashen at the next set of lights

What kind of 0-60mph times would anyone guess? 5 seconds? 6 seconds?

    Thanks.

Jeez, bringing 100 ft lbs on take off I'd hope to see that cut in half.

    6 seconds 0-60 would be horrible! I hope it's more like 4-5.

The new Kymco 700 series can go 130mph Maybe Ill look into a Kymco 700, but rumor is it may be rebadged as a BMW maxi-scooter

118 really restricts the 850cc though. but I dont ride bikes that fast.

Trust me, the speedo is showing well over 130 at 118...I can guarantee you the same with the Kymco, and honestly, Kymco is one of the most impressive companies in the scooter business IMO.

So you are saying the speedo has that much error at 118 that it's showing over 130?

I'd read somewhere this year they had opened a "massive" part/supply warehouse on the east coast...one of the Carolina's? Also, a couple of months ago when the wife was @ the BMW dealer in Boerne, she noticed they also had Kymco's. One of the reps there mentioned something about them supplying engines (?) to BMW...probably more what the earlier post said, a re-badged "mega-scooter".

Oh so speedo reads 130 but actual ground speed is 118.

I am wondering if anyone has yet experienced a Tank slapper on the Mana 850? Id doubt anyone would be happy facing one.

Yes that is where the Kymco USA warehouse is located.

What, you think this is a Honda Nighthawk or something?
